Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem had survived cancer twice and a serious bout with COVID-19 before his death at Six Flags Over Georgia, according to relatives and a family friend.

The 42-year-old Atlanta educator and his daughter also survived a car fire weeks earlier, the friend said.

Elicia Day, a friend of Kariem’s family, told WSB-TV he had overcome serious health challenges, including cancer and COVID-19.

She also said Kariem and his daughter survived a car fire just weeks earlier.

Police have not said what caused Kariem to be ejected or described the injuries to the other guests.
