Four-times Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen will return to his karting roots on Sept. 16 when he attempts to overtake 100 competitors in a specially created race at Silverstone Circuit. The "Max vs 100" event, organised by Red Bull, will put the Dutchman at the back of a 101-kart field and challenge him to pass every other driver on a purpose-built circuit at the British Grand Prix venue. The race will be broadcast live globally on Disney+, with coverage also available on the ESPN App for ESPN Unlimited subscribers in the United States before a delayed ESPN2 broadcast later in the day. Verstappen, who recently extended his contract with Red Bull Racing until the end of 2030, will face competitors drawn from sport, entertainment and the public, including Red Bull athletes, celebrities, content creators, personalities and fans invited from around the world. The event is built around the question of whether competitors can beat Verstappen when the odds are stacked against the Formula 1 champion through sheer weight of numbers. Verstappen began karting at the age of four and competed in championships from the age of seven. After success in Belgium and the Netherlands, he collected a series of World and European karting titles before a dominant 2013 season helped propel him towards Formula 1. For Verstappen, the event represents a return to the discipline where he developed many of the skills that later shaped his Formula 1 career.
