Mekies after double podium in Baku: 'An incredible race'

Published on 27 September 2026 by Misha van der Kroon Jos Verstappen and his co-driver Renaud Jamoul have been forced to retire from the East Belgian Rally, part of the Belgian Rally Championship.

The East Belgian Rally consists of four different special stages, each of which is contested three times: Büllingen (14.04 km), Bütgenbach (6.30 km), St. Vith (12.04 km) and Burg-Reuland (13.67 km).

On the second stage, Jos again finishes ninth, but this time he is just 3.3 seconds off the pace.

“We were lacking top speed, so we made some adjustments for that,” Jos explains.

Jos and Renaud therefore see their BRC East Belgian Rally come to a premature end.
