Greg Scharenbroch, vice president of global engineering at MicroVision, said the typical Silicon Valley approach was to prioritize performance, aiming to deliver the best possible system and solution, expecting that volumes would eventually increase and prices would drop. Scharenbroch, who has spent 30 years in the automotive industry and joined MicroVision in November after working on ADAS systems and software-defined vehicle computing, believes the sector gained hard-won insights from what he terms LiDAR 1.0.
