Industrial electronics manufacturer Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) has been selected by Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) to lead two research and development initiatives focused on scaling quantum hardware control systems.
The first project, Research and Development of Multi-Qubit-Control Laser Systems, addresses neutral-atom and trapped-ion quantum processing units.
Both projects will be executed in technical collaboration with Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) alongside academic partner institutions.
The technological validation establishes a foundation for data center-scale quantum integration in the 2040s, providing modular control interfaces across Japan’s national quantum computing initiative.
