Street crime, including highly visible offenses such as theft and assault, is down 9% since the start of the year.

"Putting it on the agenda has become a necessity," Minister of State Christophe Mirmand said during the October 7 budget session.

That commitment was reiterated during the public session after Nicolas Croesi relayed concerns from residents about the lack of visible police presence on the streets.

Seven new positions were included in the 2026 supplementary budget, in addition to nine included in the initial 2026 budget.
