LAUREL, Md. — Laurel police are asking neighbors for any video their doorbell or security systems might have after more than 20 airbag thefts from vehicles. The thefts occurred in several different neighborhood throughout the city overnight. They’re hoping to find video from the evening, overnight, or early morning hours showing suspicious people or vehicles. Any footage you might have will be used solely for investigative purposes. “Your cooperation can make a meaningful difference in identifying those responsible and preventing future incidents. Thank you for helping keep our community safe,” police said in a press release. So far, Laurel police have not identified any suspects connected with the incidents. They also refrained from linking the thefts to similar crimes throughout Prince George's County and beyond. After a rash of airbag thefts in D.C., police suggested that, in addition to locking their doors when they park, people use steering-wheel locks since they also protect against airbag theft.
