National Motor Freight Traffic Association Inc. promoted Ben Wilkens to director of cybersecurity. The association said Wilkens will lead cybersecurity strategy, research initiatives, and industry engagement efforts. Background in Freight Cybersecurity Wilkens previously served as a cybersecurity principal engineer at NMFTA, where the association said he led efforts to develop technologies and strategies to protect critical systems across the freight and logistics sector. Before joining NMFTA, Wilkens held a leadership role at a family-owned trucking and logistics company, focusing on integrating technology and cybersecurity into operations. Industry Collaboration and Strategy NMFTA said Wilkens will work with industry partners, academic institutions, and government agencies to strengthen cybersecurity practices and information sharing. “Ben’s leadership and real-world understanding of both cybersecurity and transportation make him exceptionally well-positioned to advance NMFTA’s mission in this critical area,” said Joe Ohr. “As cyber threats continue to evolve, his expertise will help ensure our members—and the broader industry—are better equipped to detect, prevent, and respond.” Certifications and Experience Wilkens holds multiple industry certifications, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). NMFTA said he also maintains a Class A commercial driver’s license, providing direct insight into freight operations alongside cybersecurity expertise.
