Because the system involves student accounts and payment information, cybersecurity became a concern after City College was alerted to a potential network risk.
James Hall, a City College academic computing manager, said he regularly receives alerts about cybersecurity risks through the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
Off-campus printing services were temporarily restricted beginning the morning of Aug. 29 while the issue was investigated.
Printing remained available on campus and at City College centers during the restriction, although off-campus functions were limited.
These activities included sending print jobs to multifunction copiers, accessing the printing dashboard, adding funds to printing accounts, setting up printing on personal devices and creating guest accounts.
