Officers free 3-foot exotic snake caught in vehicle

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CNN) - Police officers in New Jersey freed a ball python that had become lodged in a car’s grille.

According to the Franklin Township Police Department, a couple returned home Monday from having their car’s wheels aligned and discovered the snake.

The vehicle owners called police, who then called animal control.

So officers ended up handling the call and worked to free the 3-foot-long snake in about 20 minutes.

It remains unclear how the snake ended up in the car.
