Only 20% of firms continuously monitor connected IoT devices, Honeywell report finds

Only one in five organizations surveyed by Honeywell Technologies continuously monitor connected Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as cameras and sensors, pointing to gaps in operational technology (OT) cybersecurity visibility.

Honeywell's 2026 OT Cybersecurity Benchmark Report, based on a survey of more than 600 global industrial cybersecurity leaders, found that just 20% continuously monitor connected IoT devices.

This comes despite 88% of respondents describing their OT cybersecurity programs as mature.

“As cyber threats increasingly impact physical operations, resilience depends on extending cybersecurity across every connected system that supports uptime and business continuity,” said Jim Masso, President and CEO of Honeywell Technologies Process Automation.

Honeywell said organizations with stronger visibility are four times better positioned to identify threats, respond to incidents and restore operations quicker.
