OptQC secures funding from Nissay Capital's sustainability fund for room-temperature quantum computer
● 5 hours ago
Nissay Capital has invested in OptQC, a deep-tech startup developing optical quantum computers that operate at room temperature and pressure. The investment comes from Nissay Capital's Sustainability Solutions Fund No. 1.
OptQC, established in September 2024 and based on research from the University of Tokyo, is developing quantum computing technology that consumes less energy and requires simpler control systems compared to other approaches. The company's optical quantum computers aim to address issues of massive power consumption and heat generation whilst delivering significantly enhanced computing capabilities.
The technology has potential applications across multiple industries, including logistics optimisation, development of new materials and energy solutions to reduce CO2 emissions, and drug development for intractable diseases. OptQC has already delivered its first machine to the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and established partnerships with major corporations.
