The Department of War announced approximately $350 million in quantum computing initiatives Thursday as part of President Donald Trump’s broader effort to strengthen American scientific research and military technology.

The October 8 releases detail three related announcements: a department-wide research strategy, a roughly $350 million quantum initiative and a $150 million conditional loan commitment to PsiQuantum.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) advanced four prospective quantum computing providers into Stage C of its Quantum Benchmarking Initiative.

DARPA also plans workshops before January 2027 to identify practical uses for quantum computing.

Those figures are separate from the approximately $350 million quantum package.
