The Police Digital Service (PDS), in collaboration with forces, the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), government partners, and industry, is developing national standards and guidance for the secure adoption of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles.

This includes the first national cyber guidance for connected and autonomous vehicles, providing a framework to assess and manage cyber risks.

He noted that cyber security is no longer just an IT issue but also a fleet, operational, and public safety issue.

The PDS is encouraging forces to utilise available resources, including over 200 products in its standards libraries, more than 50 of which are relevant to cyber security.

By sharing knowledge and adopting common standards, policing can strengthen its defences against emerging cyber threats.
