PsiQuantum announced it has signed a Letter of Intent with the U.S. Department of Commerce for $100 million in proposed federal incentives under the CHIPS and Science Act. The proposed funding is intended to strengthen American leadership in quantum computing and semiconductor manufacturing while advancing critical domestic technology supply chains. The company said the incentives, combined with PsiQuantum’s own co-investment, will support the manufacturability and performance of key components required for utility-scale quantum computing. Areas of focus include Barium Titanate (BTO) optical switching materials, high-temperature single-photon detectors, and advanced packaging technologies. PsiQuantum explained that its silicon photonics-based approach to quantum computing leverages existing semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure, allowing the company to scale quantum systems more rapidly while also contributing innovations that benefit the broader semiconductor industry. Victor Peng, Interim CEO of PsiQuantum, emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening domestic technology manufacturing and supply chains. The company noted that its supply chain is heavily anchored in the United States, with approximately $200 million invested in 2025 across hundreds of suppliers and vendors spanning 38 states. The announcement also highlighted PsiQuantum’s long-standing collaboration with GlobalFoundries, which has partnered with the company since 2019 to scale production of quantum photonic chipsets. The partnership focuses on silicon photonics, advanced packaging, and system-level integration technologies designed to support large-scale quantum systems. PsiQuantum also pointed to its broader government collaborations and infrastructure initiatives. In 2025, the company advanced to the final stage of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Quantum Benchmarking Initiative and broke ground on what it described as America’s largest quantum computing infrastructure project at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park in Chicago.
