Quantum Systems, a German -based defense technology company, has announced the deployment of its next-generation autonomous vehicle technology to Ukraine. The MOSAIC system will be integrated into heavy-duty trucks to test its autonomous transport capabilities in high-conflict areas. The system allows existing transport vehicles, specifically the Mercedes-Benz Zetros, to operate fully autonomously or remotely. This flexibility allows the military to progressively modernize its forces without replacing its entire existing fleet. In modern combat environments, where GPS signals are frequently jammed or neutralized, MOSAIC uses alternative maps and independently constructs a panoramic view of the area for navigation. In addition, the system incorporates passive sensors. This feature allows the vehicle to operate with low electromagnetic emissions, limiting its detectability by enemy reconnaissance systems. Data processing is performed by AI integrated directly into the vehicle (Edge AI), maintaining autonomous operation without requiring a continuous connection to a central control center.
