New movements Resolution No. 16 sets out the requirement for innovative development thinking, urban planning based on open spaces, building a multi-directional transportation infrastructure system, a multi-layered and multi-centered urban structure; developing smart transportation, smart cities, green cities, and adapting to climate change. In this, public transportation is identified as central, ensuring synchronous infrastructure connectivity between urban areas within and outside the city. According to the set objectives, by 2035, Dong Nai city strives to become an airport city, a riverside city, a multi-centered, multi-purpose, green and smart city. In this process, developing public passenger transport using clean energy is a suitable direction, contributing to reducing emissions, noise, and improving service quality. In accordance with Decision No. 876/QD-TTg dated July 22, 2022, of the Prime Minister on the action program for green energy transition and reduction of carbon and methane emissions in the transportation sector, Dong Nai province is implementing a roadmap for the conversion of public passenger transport vehicles. Since the beginning of 2026, the introduction of electric buses on many routes has brought about significant changes. On July 4, 2026, electric bus route No. 9 officially commenced operation, becoming the first inner-city bus route in Dong Nai to use electric vehicles. The route is 57.5km long, connecting Bien Hoa Bus Station (Tran Bien Ward) with Doc Mo 3 (Thong Nhat Commune) and vice versa. The buses are equipped with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, a stop announcement system, and automatic ticket vending. After more than a month of operation, the route has received positive feedback from passengers. From
