Individual cloud, satellite communications, IoT, monitoring and cyber products are increasingly common onboard, but often sit in separate silos.
Rakuten Maritime is positioning its Maritime Total Solution as an answer to this fragmentation, bringing together IoT, cloud storage, satellite-based mobile networks, ship IoT, edge computing and cybersecurity management.
The current phase adds Rakuten Cloud and satellite-to-mobile services, before a final integration of OT, IoT, data, cloud, security and satellite communications into what it describes as a complete one-stop smart ship solution.
The wider ambition is to make the digital ship less a collection of products and more a single operating architecture.
