Rennsport is planning to introduce a significant update next month, with the ‘Kings of the Ring’ patch arriving in September. The plan is to deliver content, but more notably, quality-of-life changes for the cross-platform sim racing game. AI and FFB changes One of the fundamental issues with Rennsport is the offline single-player experience, which is blighted by some of the most incompetent AI-controlled rivals in gaming. Random roll-overs, inconsistent pace and bizarre behaviour were evident at launch. Improvements have been made since then, but there’s still a lot of work to do. This next update aims to establish a “robust, reliable new baseline”, according to the developers, eradicating “major instances of erratic behaviour.” It’s needed. Naturally, work is expected to continue after the September update, with publisher Competition Company confirming additional resources for the AI team. Force feedback is also set for tweaks in the upcoming release, targeting “overly soft” response for Logitech devices ahead of further FFB work in subsequent launches. New paid content Strangely, as the name suggests, ‘Kings of the Ring’ will include the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Which, you may ask, ‘Wait, isn’t the Nürburgring Nordschleife already in Rennsport?’ Well yes, it is. But it’s currently behind the Deluxe Edition only. So, presumably, this is now just the ‘Green Hell’ loop for all players? Or a slightly different layout? We’ve approached Rennsport for clarification. It’s at that same October event where it will share “ambitious goals for Rennsport for the remainder of the year.” It has also announced that its plan for further community-created mod tracks has been pushed back while it works on the “core game experience.” Discussion
