Polaris is known for producing a family of reliable MRZR tactical vehicles, including several variants. Recently, Zona Militar spoke with company executive John LaFata about the company’s ongoing contracts, projects, and long-term objectives. LaFata told ZM that there are “a lot of international contracts” that Polaris is working on, “but we will cover them at SOF week.” (Special Operations Forces Week is a major defense expo in Tampa, Florida, running 18-21 May). So far, there are no reports of Latin American militaries placing new orders for the tactical vehicles manufactured by Polaris. However, it is worth noting that the armies of Argentina and El Salvador already operate the MRZR tactical vehicle. Polaris told ZM that at SOF Week, the company will display a variety of vehicles and other projects. Some of the highlights include: the Forterra MESA, an autonomous ground vehicle based on the Polaris RANGER XD 1500; an MRZR Alpha equipped with the Freedom Atlantic Communications System; and a MRZR Alpha 6×6 with an updated Marine Corps Vehicle Common Launcher (VCL) and Northrop Grumman Jackal. The USMC and the ULTV The Ultra-Light Tactival Vehicle program for the US Marine Corps moves forward, with Polaris as the sole supplier of ULTVs. The US government contracting method known as IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity) was announced on the US government site, SAM.gov, on 31 March 2026. The announcement explains that the award is expected to be issued “in the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2026 with an approximate ordering period of 60 months.” The anticipated IDIQ contract will specifically provide the US Marines with ULTVs, which can be transported aboard the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey military transport and cargo aircraft and the Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion rotary-wing aircraft for “littoral operations.” This acquisition program “will meet Force Design 2030 priority integration
