Stratford to trial facial recognition amid 4,500 reports of violence against women

Earlier this year, the Police and Crime Committee here at City Hall discovered some shocking figures.

In 2025, there were more than 4,500 incidents of violence against women and girls on public transport reported.

As a member of the Committee, I heard first-hand from experts about some of the horrifying experiences women face on public transport.

Stratford has been chosen as one of a small number of stations where Live Facial Recognition (LFR) technology will be trialled.
