With the Sierra.ev, Tata Motors is reviving one of its most recognisable nameplates while taking a technology-first approach. Built on the company’s Acti.ev+ architecture, the electric SUV combines a dual-motor powertrain with a connected cabin, advanced driver assistance systems, digital displays and an extensive list of comfort and entertainment features. Rather than focusing solely on performance, the Sierra.ev aims to deliver a software-driven ownership experience through connected technologies and intelligent features. Price Tata Motors has introduced the Sierra.ev with a starting price of Rs 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the latest addition to the company’s growing electric SUV portfolio. The model is positioned above the Curvv.ev and below the Harrier.ev, with bookings now underway. Customer deliveries are scheduled to commence from July 15. Battery and powertrain The Sierra.ev is built on Tata Motors’ Acti.ev+ platform and features a 75kWh battery pack paired with a dual-motor Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) system. The front axle is powered by a 140PS induction motor, while the rear gets a 209PS permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering a combined 504Nm of torque. Tata claims the SUV can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.8 seconds in Boost Mode. It also offers Normal, Eco and Sport drive modes, along with six terrain modes—Normal, Grass/Snow, Mud Ruts/Gravel, Sand, Rock Crawl and Custom—to adapt to different road and off-road conditions. Interior and infotainment The Sierra.ev’s cabin is dominated by a Horizon View Triple Screen setup that stretches across the dashboard. The layout integrates the driver’s display, central infotainment screen and a dedicated passenger display into one continuous interface, allowing occupants to access navigation, media and vehicle information simultaneously. The infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, enabling smartphone integration without cables.
