Tesla expanded the availability of the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) power export feature to the Tesla Model Y Premium trims in the United States. Initially, V2L was possible on the Tesla Cybertruck (all versions), and later also on select Tesla Model Y versions (the refreshed Model Y Performance, introduced in late 2025, and more recently the new longer Model Y L Premium in Launch Series edition announced in July 2026). This month, Tesla expanded V2L power export to the standard-length Tesla Model Y Premium (RWD and AWD) in the US market. V2L remains unavailable for the entry-level Model Y (RWD and AWD). V2L may not be available for some existing Model Y Premium vehicles (more on the compatibility issue later in the article). Tesla Model Y V2L Power Export How It Works? On the Tesla Model Y, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) power export is possible using a Gen 3 Mobile Connector (comes standard with new EVs; it costs $300 on Tesla’s online shop) with a special Outlet Adapter (it costs $80 on Tesla’s online shop; standard on the Model Y L Premium in Launch Series edition). The Gen 3 Mobile Connector must be connected to the vehicle’s NACS charging port on one side and to the Outlet Adapter on the other. The Outlet Adapter features two 120-volt outlets, which can deliver a combined AC power of up to 2.4 kW (up to 20 amps at 120 volts). This setup allows the user to power various electronic devices.
