Tesla is taking a big step toward making its dream of a Cybercab robotaxi fleet a reality. Instead of waiting around for regulatory approvals across the country, a brand new testing phase is launching directly on factory grounds. An announcement from the official Tesla account on X confirmed that Cybercab employee rides are starting soon at Gigafactory Texas. The post included a video of the gold-colored vehicle autonomously picking up and dropping off employees, maneuvering through the factory campus without a steering wheel, pedals, or any other kind of human driving controls. Inside the cabin, passengers are greeted by a massive 21-inch central touchscreen — the largest ever for a Tesla vehicle — that’s used to do everything from control content playback to open the doors (there’s also a physical button on each door that doubles as an emergency release) and even tell the Cybercab to pull over mid-ride. It also looks like you’ll be able to control vehicle functions directly from the Robotaxi app on your phone while riding a Cybercab. This structured rollout mirrors how Tesla previously approached its Robotaxi service, testing internally before opening it up to the public. To pull off fully driverless operations, we recently discovered that the Cybercab includes a more powerful
