The Google map says I’m going to be there in two minutes and that seems a long way to go in such a short time. Also, I’m at the wheel, sure, but I’m not actually driving because this is the 2026 GMC Acadia AT4 three-row SUV and it’s equipped with General Motors’ Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving tech. It’s a tech that’s been around since 2017, but at the outset it only worked on divided highways with no level crossings. Today, even two-lane mountain passes like this one are covered. The tech started out on divided highways because that’s likely when most people are going to be using it. I would suspect that the always thrilling passage between Toronto and Montreal will be the most “Super Cruise-d” passage in Canada. It can automatically pull out of the lane to make a pass, or move you over when travelling too slowly for the traffic coming up behind you.
