Tönnjes presented its next-generation solutions for secure and networked vehicle identification, a new generation of hybrid chips and demonstrated its latest developments for digital vehicle registration and authentication in a live trade fair environment. The new hybrid chip, presented at at Intertraffic in Amsterdam earlier this month, was developed in collaboration with Swiss semiconductor manufacturer EM Microelectronic. The secure dual-frequency RAIN RFID and NFC tag combines long-range, high-speed vehicle identification with convenient smartphone-based verification. This hybrid approach enables a wide range of use cases— from identification in heavy traffic to targeted roadside checks— while advanced cryptography, including AES-128 authentication, and extended memory structures ensure the high level of security, privacy and flexibility required for government applications, according to executives of both companies.
