Uber has significantly increased its involvement in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology by partnering with and investing in over 30 AV companies worldwide since 2023. After selling its own AV division in 2020, Uber shifted focus back to AVs through strategic collaborations with firms like Aurora, Baidu, Lucid, and WeRide, among others. These partnerships span robotaxi services, autonomous deliveries, and fleet management across multiple continents, aiming to integrate AVs into Uber's ride-hailing and delivery platforms. This global, multi-partner approach positions Uber to leverage diverse AV technologies while minimizing direct development risks, with commercial deployments planned in cities across the US, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East through 2031.
