Out of 500 participating projects, the research proposal “Regional Futures: The Territorial Policy of Digitalization in Cities in the Global South” was awarded €160 (almost four million pesos) in funding.
The smart cities research will analyze three cities: Mumbai, in India; Nairobi, in Kenya and the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG), in Mexico; the latter under the responsibility of the UdeG.
The first stage of the study will begin in the outskirts of Zapopan, with plans to expand to the outskirts of Guadalajara.
The total funding for the research will be distributed over five years and will begin in January 2022.
