Until recently, strong-hybrid technology in India was largely concentrated in five-seater SUVs and premium MPVs such as the Toyota Innova Hycross. That could change significantly over the next couple of years as manufacturers including Kia, Toyota, Hyundai, Renault and JSW MG Motor India introduce larger electrified SUVs. Some of these models are already close to launch, while others remain under development for 2027-28. Here are five important upcoming three-row hybrid SUVs worth watching. 1. MG Hector Hawk – Launch Expected on August 26, 2026 The first major arrival is expected to be the MG Hector Hawk, an all-new three-row SUV from JSW MG Motor India. The Hector Hawk is expected to make its India debut on August 26, 2026, and could become one of the most significant additions to MG’s Indian portfolio this year. Current reports suggest that both plug-in hybrid and fully electric versionsare being prepared. The upcoming SUV is understood to have links with the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in overseas markets. The plug-in hybrid version is expected to combine a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with an electric motor and approximately 20.5kWh battery pack. International specifications point towards combined output of around 197hp, while the PHEV could offer close to 100km of electric-only driving range under the CLTC test cycle. Final India specifications may differ. A pure-electric Hector Hawk is also expected, potentially offering a claimed driving range of over 500km, depending on configuration.
