The World Council on City Data (WCCD) has awarded Vinhomes Green Paradise in Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City, an Interim Custom ISO 37122 Smart City Certification.
It is an interim award tied to this project’s own smart city goals, not a general benchmark of the kind applied to established cities.
The 2026 IMD Smart City Index, which ranks 148 cities almost entirely on resident perceptions, suggests that technology alone does not make a city smart.
It is separate from the smart city standard used at Can Gio, and covers sustainability rather than smart city performance.
For now, the Can Gio certification offers a reference point for how an interim, data-led approach can be applied to a city that does not yet exist.
