Chinese autonomous driving technology company WeRide has announced its entry into Denmark through a strategic partnership with GreenMobility, paving the way for the country’s first commercial autonomous shared mobility service. Pending regulatory approvals, the companies plan to begin public operations during the first half of 2027, marking WeRide’s expansion into the Nordic region while further strengthening its rapidly growing European presence. The partnership combines WeRide’s Level 4 autonomous driving technology with GreenMobility’s extensive experience operating one of Europe’s largest electric car-sharing fleets. Denmark to Receive Level 4 Robotaxi Service When the service launches, customers will be able to request rides using WeRide’s GXR, the company’s latest-generation fully autonomous vehicle designed to meet European Union regulations. The deployment is expected to become Denmark’s first commercial autonomous mobility project, offering fully electric, self-driving transportation designed for urban environments. Denmark’s strong EV adoption, advanced digital infrastructure, and supportive regulatory environment make it one of Europe’s most attractive markets for autonomous transportation. The companies say the initiative will support the country’s broader smart mobility goals while providing safer, cleaner, and more accessible transportation options. WeRide Continues Rapid European Expansion Denmark becomes WeRide’s sixth European market, highlighting the company’s accelerating growth across the continent. Over the past few months, WeRide has expanded into several new European countries, including: France, Belgium, Switzerland, Slovakia, Spain and Denmark. Commercial launches are already planned or underway in cities including Madrid, Zurich, and locations in Slovakia, demonstrating the company’s increasing commercialization momentum across Europe. Rather than building its own local operations from scratch, WeRide continues to pursue an asset-light expansion strategy, partnering with established mobility operators that already possess fleet management expertise, customer bases, and local market knowledge.
