Self-driving cars promise fewer accidents, fewer injuries, and potentially thousands of lives saved.
In 1913, 33.38 people died for every 10,000 vehicles on the road.
In 2024, the death rate was 1.44 per 10,000 vehicles, a 96% improvement.
Nevertheless, the potential for safer driving and fewer accidents caused by cars without human drivers has surely been demonstrated.
Yet rather than championing laws that would foster development and safe use of autonomous vehicles, our PI lawyers, apparently feeling threatened, have been lobbying against bipartisan legislation that would set regulations for self-driving cars.
