Work will start in October on the Malibu segment of the Las Virgenes-Malibu Council of Governments’ (LVMCOG) Regional Smart Cities Fiber Network, a major regional infrastructure project that will bring more than 38 miles of high-capacity fiber optic infrastructure to Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Malibu and Westlake Village.
In Malibu, approximately 8,000 linear feet of underground fiber will be installed from October through December 2026, connecting Malibu City Hall and interconnecting City traffic signals along Civic Center Way.
The Malibu work areas include portions of Malibu Canyon Road, Webb Way/Stuart Ranch Road and Civic Center Way between Malibu Canyon Road and Stuart Ranch Road.
Work on Malibu Canyon Road in unincorporated Los Angeles County is expected to continue into March 2027.
The project is being undertaken by the LVMCOG, a Joint Powers Authority representing Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Malibu and Westlake Village.
