THE Supercar involved in a shocking Sandown 500 crash has found a new home. Chassis BJR 005 was the CoolDrive Commodore in which Tim Blanchard and Todd Hazelwood entered the 2017 Enduro Cup opener, only for the latter to be tipped into a high-speed flip following contact with Jonathon Webb in the co-driver qualifying race. The car was subsequently withdrawn and never raced again. It was instead repurposed as a simulator frame by then Brad Jones Racing engineer Tony Woodward, who this year joined the Blanchard Racing Team. Woodward’s relocation to Melbourne opened the door for a changing of the guard for BJR 005. “Tony moved house and Tim decided that he wanted to buy that car back,” BRT manager Kate Harrington told V8 Sleuth. “We don’t really have much space for it right now, it’s just sitting upstairs, but the plan in the new workshop will be we’ll have a dedicated sim area. “They’ve done it really well, they’ve done a really good job of the whole sim. “It pretty much exactly replicates a Supercar because it’s the chassis and frame and everything, so it’s pretty cool.” BRT is on track to move into its new purpose-built Boronia headquarters in January 2027.
