Mit über 200 TOPS Leistung kann es L4-Fahrfunktionen ausführen. Die "neue Kraft im LKW-Bereich", die von Baidu Apollo gefördert wird, hat tatsächlich was drauf. It is still unclear where the first location for the introduction of robotaxis will be, but it is already clear where the first introduction of robot trucks will take place - Inner Mongolia, China: We have already analyzed in detail the L4 truck fleet in Ordos. If you drive further north from Ordos, you will reach the city of Bayannur, which is located on the border with Mongolia. Here, the automation of the freight transport of raw materials will also be quickly realized. The actor behind this is not unknown: DeepWay, a company founded by Baidu for self - driving trucks. DeepWay's technology concept for realizing L4 can be referred to as the "Lingpao Auto Workshop" for L4 trucks - It is also an L4 fleet, but with a computing power of 256 TOPS per vehicle and a self - driving kit for 30,000 yuan. Together with the already advanced production and delivery of electric trucks, DeepWay is on the way to becoming the "first listed company for L4 truck transportation". Bayannur in Inner Mongolia has also reached L4 The fact that Inner Mongolia is the first location for the commercial introduction of robot trucks is closely related to the favorable natural conditions: The highways and first - class road networks are well - developed, and the conditions for long - distance transportation are excellent. In addition, Inner Mongolia is currently the province in China with the largest production of coal, rare earths, livestock and other raw materials. The number of trucks in the province accounts for 1/5 of the national inventory, more than 300,000 vehicles. The scenarios and requirements are a perfect fit for the

Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) specialist, AGILOX has released a fully automated truck loading solution capable of moving large volumes of pallets inside trucks safely, without the need for manual labour. According to the company, the solution operates using a standard AGILOX autonomous mobile robot with no additional sensors mounted on the robot itself. Unlike alternatives that rely on heavily customised hardware or sensor-equipped vehicles, AGILOX achieves precise, automated truck loading using a standard, AGILOX OFL and AGILOX ONE latest version robot, rather than a platform developed exclusively for this specific application. This approach is intended to reduce system complexity while ensuring robustness, scalability, and ease of deployment. It ensures automated truck loading is accessible and practical for real-world industrial environments. Safety is fully integrated into the process. The system can compensate for small misalignments of both the truck and the ramp, ensuring precise and reliable loading. If a person or object enters the protected area, the robot immediately reactivates its onboard safety systems and stops all movement until the safety zone is clear. This approach guarantees consistent protection for personnel, goods, and equipment, even in high-throughput outbound operations. The AGILOX truck loading solution is purpose-built for outbound logistics, where efficiency, process stability, and scalability are key performance drivers. By automating the loading process, companies can eliminate manual handling and improve planning reliability, especially in operations that run beyond regular daytime, such as during night shifts.

Maybe one day your pallets and boxes of new-in products will price, dispatch and deliver themselves to the next distribution hub or store while you attend to more value-added tasks. The Uber-like efficiency of such a seemingly sci-fi-esque reality might not be so far out in the future if you look at what’s happening today in the rapidly developing driverless trucking field. Starsky Robotics, which earlier this summer landed the industry’s first fully unmanned driverless trucking test on a closed seven-mile stretch of Florida highway, announced Thursday that, together with digital freight broker Loadsmart, it had dispatched a driverless truck to haul cargo—with no human intervention involved in the process. Powered by artificial intelligence-based pricing and load matching technology, Loadsmart handled pricing, tendering and booking the freight job, which a Starsky autonomous truck picked up and hauled to its destination. Key to this milestone is Starsky’s newly launched Hutch API, which made the seamless Loadsmart integration possible. “Autonomous vehicles play an integral role in our vision of delivering end-to-end automated shipping and logistics services,” Loadsmart CEO Ricardo Salgado noted. Working with Starsky, he said, will help Loadsmart leap to the “forefront of providing our clients with access to cutting-edge technology so they can advance their supply chain.” Hailing the fully digital end-to-end process achieved with Loadmart, Starsky CEO Stefan Seltz-Axmacher said, “the advances that seem obvious for the ride-sharing services are coming to trucking” for the first time ever. “It’s not uncommon for a traditional trucking company to have five full-time employees involved in dispatching each truck for each load,” Seltz-Axmacher explained. “By integrating e-brokers like Loadsmart, we are eliminating all back office human intervention and making the shipment process seamless, while focusing on ensuring the safety of driverless trucks. With Starsky’s Hutch API…we will be able to autonomously dispatch

The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has concluded that Ford’s BlueCruise advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) failed to mitigate driver distraction in two fatal 2024 crashes, and that neither incident would have been avoided even under the system’s updated version. The findings, delivered at a three-hour hearing on 31 March 2026, also criticised the absence of federal performance standards governing partial automation systems and urged regulators to address the gap. Both crashes involved 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E SUVs operating on BlueCruise on interstate highways—one in San Antonio in February 2024, and the other in Philadelphia just one month later. In either case, the vehicle struck stationary cars at highway speed with no braking recorded from either the driver or the system, resulting in a total of three fatalities. NTSB found that BlueCruise’s driver monitoring failed to detect inattention in both instances, and that the system permitted drivers to engage in aggravating driving decisions. Specifically, it allowed the drivers to disable automatic emergency braking and permitted speeds up to 20 mph above the posted limit. In a statement, Ford said that it would take the recommendations under serious consideration, while also noting that one of the two drivers had been impaired by alcohol. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which currently has three open investigations into BlueCruise, confirmed it would review the findings. NTSB chair Jennifer Homendy offered her assessment, saying: “We cannot take a hands-off approach to hands-free driving technology. Lives depend on it.” The absence of a federal framework for SAE Level 2 systems—that is, those that automate steering and speed but require a human to keep their eyes on the road—has allowed automakers to essentially set their own parameters for monitoring, speed limits, and data recording. NTSB criticised the opacity this arrangement has led to; indeed, the

Count vehicle autonomy among the technology solutions Wayfair’s testing to bolster its logistics capabilities. The Boston-based home furnishings retailer is set to begin an autonomous trucking pilot next month in Texas with trucking company J.B. Hunt and Alphabet’s Waymo. Wayfair, which is a J.B. Hunt customer, marks the first home goods retailer to test the technology and helps further expand driverless capabilities. “Real-time testing with customers like Wayfair is critical to making autonomous freight movement a viable solution in the future,” J.B. Hunt chief sustainability officer and executive vice president Craig Harper said. “Every supply chain is unique, so it’s important that customers can work alongside J.B. Hunt and Waymo to ensure that advanced autonomous technology will create capacity that meets their needs.” The six-week Wayfair pilot runs in July and August, with the vehicle route spanning Houston and Dallas. J.B. Hunt and Waymo first began piloting the autonomous technology last year. The two said in January that they struck a long-term strategic alliance where J.B. Hunt would be the first customer of Waymo’s fully autonomous operations in Texas over the next few years. The agreement also includes continued pilots in the state. For Wayfair, the pilot builds on what it has already been doing internally when it comes to logistics. Wayfair began building out its own logistics network some six years ago, which it calls CastleGate Logistics. The digital freight forwarding service works with suppliers at the factory and warehouse level to manage timing of exports and imports, handling customs, ocean shipping and drayage among other services. The company sees continued growth for CastleGate as more suppliers grasp the full-service offering. “We are seeing strong interest in selling on Wayfair, due in large part to the value that suppliers can derive from CastleGate, all the way from Asia consolidation

International Motors has launched a joint autonomous truck pilot with Ryder System, placing a factory-integrated autonomous vehicle into a live freight operation for the first time under its fleet trial programme. Ryder, the programme’s inaugural customer, is operating the truck on a daily 600-mile route along the I-35 corridor between Laredo and Temple, Texas, hauling freight for a Ryder supply chain customer. The pilot uses International’s second-generation autonomous tractor — an International LT Series truck powered by the S13 Integrated Powertrain — equipped with factory-installed lidar, radar and cameras, and running PlusAI’s SuperDrive autonomous driving software. A human safety driver supervises all operations. Early results show 100% on-time delivery, 92% autonomous route coverage, and pre-trip inspection times of under 30 minutes, alongside reported improvements in fuel efficiency. A central objective of the collaboration is to validate point-to-point autonomous operations using existing customer infrastructure, removing the requirement for dedicated autonomous terminals or hubs. International said the trial is designed to gather operational data on uptime, serviceability and logistics requirements ahead of a commercial launch. In a statement, James Cooper, Head of Autonomous Solutions at International, said: “Our target is to provide our customers with an end-to-end solution including vehicles, digital solutions, and operational support services, allowing customers to operate directly from their existing infrastructure and minimising additional complexity.” Seth deVlugt, Senior Director of RyderVentures and New Product Strategy, added: “Operating an AV in an active logistics network with the supervision of a safety driver allows us to validate the technology where it matters most — on a real lane, moving real freight, for a real customer.” Source: International Motors

More than 100 Apollo Go robotaxis operated by Baidu stalled simultaneously on roads across Wuhan on 31 March, leaving passengers stranded in stationary vehicles for up to two hours while customer service systems failed to respond. Wuhan police attributed the incident to a system fault that remains under investigation; at least three collisions were subsequently reported by other road users encountering the stopped vehicles. No fatalities or serious injuries have been reported at the time of writing, but one driver’s SUV sustained significant front-end damage after the car ahead changed lanes abruptly to avoid a stationary Apollo Go unit. Reminiscent of the fallout from the Xiaomi SU7 driver-assist crash from March 2025, the incident sparked widespread discussion on Chinese social media; particularly as it concerns the safety of autonomous driving technology. Among the videos shared online was dashcam footage of a car passing 16 immobilised Apollo Go robotaxis in a span of ninety minutes, and drivers braking sharply or changing lanes at the last second to avoid them. At the core of the incident is the failure of Baidu’s emergency infrastructure. Passengers reported that in-car SOS buttons returned an “unavailable” message, calls through the vehicle screen were automatically disconnected, and the official customer service line offered assurances that a technician was en route without one ever actually arriving. One passenger on the Third Ring Road elevated highway—speaking to Chinese outlet DuTe News while still inside his vehicle—reportedly waited nearly two hours before police and Baidu staff reached him. Another complained he was still charged the full fare for the journey. Shortly after the incident, Wuhan police published a statement confirming the scale of the outage and noting that all passengers exited safely. However, the cause has not been formally disclosed, and Baidu has not responded to media requests for comment.

Ettifos has completed real-world vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) tolling demonstrations in North Carolina in collaboration with Audi and Kapsch TrafficCom, validating interoperable, standards-based communication between Ettifos’ V2X-AIR onboard unit (OBU) and Kapsch’s commercially deployed roadside units (RSUs). The demonstrations were conducted on 26 March as part of the OmniAir Consortium V2X Tolling Workshop. Two scenarios were tested. The first used an Audi vehicle equipped with Ettifos’ V2X-AIR OBU, establishing continuous PC5-based communication with Kapsch’s RSUs as the vehicle passed through a tolling zone, with transaction acknowledgements displayed on the in-vehicle screen. The second demonstrated an aftermarket, dashboard-mounted configuration of the same OBU, processing tolling events and Traveler Information Messages in real time via Ettifos’ application interface — a deployment model intended for retrofitting existing fleets ahead of broader OEM integration. Ettifos said both implementations confirmed multi-vendor interoperability across Audi vehicles, its aftermarket OBU, and Kapsch roadside infrastructure under live operating conditions. The V2X-AIR unit is Build America, Buy America (BABA) compliant, a requirement for devices used in federally funded US infrastructure projects. In a statement, Hojun Kim, Chief Executive Officer of Ettifos, said: “This collaboration demonstrates the importance of interoperability in enabling scalable V2X tolling across the ecosystem, highlighting Ettifos’ role in delivering a solution that supports both OEM and aftermarket implementations for immediate deployment.” Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir Consortium, added: “Industry collaboration, like this joint demonstration by Ettifos, Kapsch, and Audi, is key to deploying V2X tolling solutions at scale.” Source: Ettifos
