The system tracks key water parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity and temperature across multiple pond locations. Data is transmitted to farmers in offline mode via radio frequency, with instant alerts when any parameter crosses threshold limits. Extreme heat, spread-out neighborhoods and limited late-night transit options leave many Valley teens dependent on parents or public transportation that doesn’t always reach where they need to go. “One of the biggest barriers we find... we hear from our kids and our families, is transportation,” said Josh Stine, VP of External Affairs for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley. “If their parents can’t get them there, and maybe the bus isn’t working, or they can’t get access to the light rail, it limits opportunities to take internships.” Now, BGCAZ is doing something about it. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley just launched the AZYouthforce Workforce Mobility Pilot in Phoenix, pairing up to 40 teens with autonomous Waymo rides to and from paid summer internships, at no cost to participants. The program taps into Waymo’s teen accounts feature, launched in Phoenix last year, which allows riders as young as 14 to travel independently once a parent links their account. There are three petrol-powered pre-production cars built in Trollhättan in 2014 with between 18,000 and 58,000km on the clock. One car has four in-wheel motors, while another has a range-extender EV drivetrain with a petrol engine acting as a generator to recharge the on-board battery pack when it starts running low. OU hosting <b>autonomous vehicle</b> competition

An autonomous vehicle competition is returning to the campus of Oakland University May 29 through June 1. This year 32 U.S. and international teams are scheduled to compete, which will take place in Parking Lot 37 in the southwest area of OU’s campus. Co-hosted by the OU School of Engineering and Computer Science, the competition attracts collegiate teams who design, build and program autonomous ground vehicles capable of navigating real-world driving scenarios. The IGVC will introduce a new top performer award, presented to the team demonstrating the strongest combined performance across both the autonomous navigation and self drive challenges. Each year, IGVC presents 18 cash awards and six honorary awards based on performance across three competition areas: autonomous navigation, self drive and the required design challenge. “Each year, we continue to raise the level of challenge at IGVC to reflect what students will face in the real world,” said Jerry Lane, IGVC founder and co-chair. “The new certificate program and expanded driving challenges are generating tremendous excitement among students, while helping them develop the skills needed to design intelligent vehicles that can safely navigate complex environments.” Admission is free and open to the public.
