Navivo Capital Poland, a growth fund co-financed by EU money, has made its first investment, putting PLN 8 mln into Polish IoT company Cthings.co. The startup develops systems that allow industrial and urban devices to collect and process data locally, including with AI, instead of sending large amounts of raw data to the cloud. Its Orchestra platform is used in Industry 4.0, smart cities and logistics, and the company recently partnered with Asus IoT. Navivo will support Cthings.co’s expansion in North America and help connect it with foreign funds ahead of a larger financing round planned for next year.
The company’s revenue jumped from under PLN 1.3 mln annually in 2023-24 to PLN 17.5 mln in 2025, when it posted its first small profit.

Across several major economies, climate policy has become more polarized, and “net zero” is no longer an easy campaign promise. Temperature records, however, continue to be broken. The World Meteorological Organization reports that 2015 to 2025 were the hottest 11 years on record, with 2025 itself among the three warmest years. Coral reef systems across the Pacific are experiencing widespread bleaching, and extreme weather events — including stronger typhoons and heavier rainfall — are becoming more frequent in many regions. How that global picture translates into local action is a more practical question. In Hong Kong, answers increasingly lie in cooperation with European partners. Over the past few years, much of the focus has been on standards, financing tools and technical exchange. This shift is evident in the evolving relationship between Hong Kong and European institutions. Hitachi Energy: How Data Centres Can Be Better Grid Citizens The rise of AI has fast become one of the most pressing and intractable challenges the energy sector has ever faced, affecting every stakeholder from grid operators, to energy providers, to urban planners. Data centres, especially AI data centres, are some of the largest and most demanding consumers of electricity that have ever been connected to the grid. While a conventional data centre can draw as much power as 100,000 homes, the IEA estimates that some AI campuses now being built could require up to 20 times that amount. But scale is not the only problem here. AI facilities create highly variable load patterns (sporadic fluctuations in the demand for energy) that can change dramatically depending on whether systems are training large models or serving live applications. That kind of volatility has left the sector with some tough questions to answer. Firstly, where should these facilities be connected? How much storage should sit on-site? What sort of infrastructure upgrades are needed? How do we make sure fluctuations in demand do not disturb the wider network? - While a conventional data centre can pull as much power as 100,000 homes, the International Energy Agency estimates AI campuses currently under construction demanding up to 20 times that amount. Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) has long been regarded as a specialist technology requiring dedicated hardware. A new approach integrates quantum-safe keys directly into the network. In cooperation with CUbIQ Technologies and additional partners, HPE has developed a new approach to quantum-safe network encryption. Rather than treating Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) as a standalone system, the solution embeds it directly into the network: a QKD pluggable module inside the router generates quantum keys over an optical link. In a working prototype, those keys are used for MACsec, the Layer 2 security protocol that encrypts Ethernet connections between network elements. The result: data traffic protected by keys derived from the principles of quantum physics. A Network Architecture Shift Conventional QKD deployments rely on separate appliances. These systems generate quantum keys and then distribute them to routers, firewalls, or encryption platforms. For network operations teams, that translates into additional hardware, separate management systems, and integration overhead. The new model flips that logic. The router remains the central network platform, while QKD runs purely as a module within the device. This eliminates the need for a dedicated management layer for QKD hardware. The module can be managed through the existing router platform and integrated seamlessly into all established network workflows, which significantly reduces operational complexity. Getting Started Without Standalone Quantum Hardware For operators, this approach offers a notably low barrier to entry for QKD. Higher-performance modules can be swapped in much like any other optical transceiver — without overhauling the underlying infrastructure. The QKD pluggable modules are currently still at the prototype stage. However, the router platforms tested to date already support the ingestion of external quantum keys for use with IPsec or MACsec encryption. Every few months, another Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) breakthrough makes global headlines. A Chinese AI model closes in on American rivals, a Chinese research team tops a benchmark, a Chinese factory gets smarter, a city more connected, a supply chain more predictive. The usual explanations follow: China has more engineers, more factories, more state support, more data. While often true, they miss something deeper. China is not simply building bigger AI systems than America. From digital twins and smart cities to predictive logistics and intelligent manufacturing, it is increasingly building systems designed less for chatting than for coordinating, less for imitation than for management. That difference points to a larger question. Why has China put so much emphasis on AI for navigating change, while much of the Western conversation has focused on chatbots, productivity software and artificial general intelligence? The answer lies not only in economics or industrial policy, but in a much older Chinese way of thinking about intelligence itself. The binary and the book More than three centuries ago, an exchange of letters between Europe and Beijing brought together two very different ideas of intelligence. In 1701, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz sent an explanation of his newly developed binary arithmetic to Joachim Bouvet, a French Jesuit at the court of the Kangxi Emperor. 14 Feb, 2026 For nearly 50 years since its founding, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has continuously strengthened its university governance capacity and undertaken comprehensive upgrades of its facilities toward a green, smart university that meets international standards. The projects at UEH are designed and built according to sustainable‑development standards, optimizing energy use, managing resources, and reducing emissions, thereby creating a creative, friendly learning environment and spreading green values to the community. In the days leading up to the celebration of the Year of the Horse 2026, UEH unveils a fresh appearance, ready for the next important development milestones. Infrastructure Restructuring – Creating Green, Smart, Multi‑Regional Learning Spaces Entering a new development phase, UEH is focusing on deep‑level infrastructure restructuring: upgrading existing facilities while developing strategic teaching‑research spaces that meet the demands of digital transformation, internationalization, and sustainable development. In Ho Chi Minh City, Campus A is being renovated toward a modern, smart orientation, expanding open‑learning areas and integrating digital teaching‑learning technologies to enhance the experience for students and lecturers. At UEH Mekong, the university is investing uniformly in facilities that meet international standards; 100 % of classrooms for theory and practice will operate under a Hybrid Class model, complemented by a modern studio that simulates a film‑set environment. The branch is also developing learning‑experience amenities such as a smart library that shares data with UEH HCMC and a Start‑Up Coffee run by students. Simultaneously, on 19 August 2025, the university officially broke ground on UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang—a new teaching‑research branch positioned as “a hub where scholars and global knowledge converge.” The project is one of 250 key national‑level constructions launched and inaugurated to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (2 September 1945 – 2 September 2025), marking a new knowledge landmark

India’s cities are at a critical juncture in their mobility transition. Rapid urbanisation and rising travel demand are placing unprecedented pressure on existing transport systems, which remain fragmented, unevenly governed, and insufficiently integrated. By the mid-2030s, India’s urban population is projected to exceed 600 million, and daily mobility choices will shape not only economic productivity and environmental outcomes but also access to livelihoods, leisure, education, and essential services, including healthcare.[1],[2] A fragmented transportation system limits low-income users’ access to jobs, education, and services, and consequently, deepening existing inequalities. Despite notable investments in metro rail, highways, and digital platforms, urban mobility outcomes continue to be characterised by worsening externalities, including congestion, high travel-time costs, emissions, and exclusion. The outcomes are worse for users dependent on informal and peripheral transport systems, including paratransit modes.[3],[4] At a time when the broader Indian economy is rapidly adopting digital public infrastructure (DPI), open platforms, and data-enabled service delivery across diverse sectors, including finance, commerce, and governance, their use in public transport remains limited. Urban transport systems, including many fast-expanding metro rail systems, continue to rely on conventional service-delivery models, often ignoring the fundamental principles of accessibility, inclusivity, safety, and affordability.[5] At the same time, informal paratransit modes, which carry more than 25 percent of daily trips and provide critical first- and last-mile connectivity, remain largely invisible within formal planning, regulatory, and data ecosystems.[6],[7] Thus, despite the numerous benefits of harnessing big data, open data, and interoperable digital networks in providing seamless connectivity—as reflected in several successful, well-integrated, and user-oriented public transport models globally—urban transport in India remains fragmented across operational silos.[8],[9] Big and open data, combined with open network architectures, are emerging as strategic enablers
