2026 F1 <b>Sim Racing</b> World Championship - Event Two Report

27 April 2026 19:00 (UTC) "There is work to do around our Qualifying execution to make race day easier, but the team know exactly what to focus on" F1 Media & Technology Centre, Monday, 27 April The 2026 Sim Racing World Championship continued during Event Two on 22 and 23 April. Racing the circuits of Saudi Arabia, Spain and Great Britain, all nine competing teams were based at the F1 Media & Technology Centre in Biggin Hill. This is the first time the Championship has taken place in the F1’s new studios, which will also host the next two events. Event Two began with the Saudi Arabian circuit. Unfortunately, both drivers faced challenging Qualifying sessions, with Alfie starting the race from P16 and Jake from P15. Jake suffered some light damage to his front wing following a small incident in Lap 1. He stayed out and kept a good enough pace, however, he finished in P16. Alfie had a cleaner race, with the team opting for a Hard to Medium tyre strategy, helping the driver gain six places to finish in the points in P10 and taking the Fastest Lap. On Thursday, the team had a busy day with two rounds. First up was Spain, the first time the circuit has been on the F1 Sim Racing World Championship calendar. With improved Qualifying performances, Alfie started the race in P6 and Jake in P11. Jake opted to start the race on Softs, which helped him jump multiple positions to P7 after just one lap. The race itself was eventful, with the front of the grid being involved in multiple close calls and incidents. Alfie stayed out of trouble and finished the race in P5 and Jake in P6. Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races: Mercedes-Glenz

A new week brings a new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races, with three fresh events now live and running through next Monday. The week’s lineup keeps things firmly in North America, with stops at Watkins Glen, Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve and Daytona. Race A is the most unique of the bunch: a six-lap one-make at the Watkins Glen short course in the Mercedes-Benz W196R, the 1950s Formula One car that Juan Manuel Fangio took to two championships. Race B is Gr.3 at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve for five laps. CGV’s mix of long straights and tight chicanes can make for racy, contact-prone laps, so getting a clean start through the opening will be critical. Race C is the strategy session of the week: eleven laps of Daytona’s Road Course in Gr.4, with 2x fuel and 4x tire wear, sixteen cars, and a mandatory tire compound change. Sydney Roosters owner buys world's fastest car

The Yangwang U9 Xtreme grabbed headlines around the world last year when it set the record as the fastest production car in history. Powered by four 555kW electric motors, the U9 Xtreme’s 2220kW powertrain pushed it to a top speed of 496.22km/h, dethroning the 490.48km/h Bugatti Chiron. It is also the fastest production EV around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, setting a time of six minutes and 59.157 seconds, almost six seconds faster than the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, and eight seconds quicker than the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. Only 30 examples are being built for global customers, and just one U9 Xtreme is coming to Australia, with BYD confirming business magnate Nick Politis is set to be the sole Down Under owner. Politis, who is the chairman of the Sydney Roosters NRL team, is also the director of Australian car dealership giant Eagers Automotive, which counts BYD and its luxury division Denza among its circa-50 automotive brands. BYD – which is the parent company of Yangwang – is in its second of a five-year deal to be the title sponsor of Politis’ Roosters, after the team was long associated with City Ford, another of the businessman’s former endeavors. Despite the Yangwang U9 Xtreme’s record-setting top speed and ludicrous power, it’s less expensive than a number of European sports cars, starting from 1.8 million Yuan in China, equivalent to about $370,000.
