NASCAR Next: 23XI racer Corey Heim on a day's work, Tyler Reddick's weight-room prowess

NASCAR Next: 23XI racer Corey Heim on a day's work, Tyler Reddick's weight-room prowess - Corey Heim is a developmental driver for the 23XI Racing team, co-owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin. - Heim balances his part-time racing schedule with simulator work, physical training, and personal hobbies like fishing and golf. On the progression track, Corey Heim appears to have slipped the rail. Last year, his fourth consecutive successful year in NASCAR’s Truck Series, was the most dominant season in that series’ 31-year history. His 12 wins were an all-time single season high, and the 12th, in the season finale, won him the championship. Several months later, he was out of a full-time job. But only on paper. “I just tell people it’s all part of the process,” the 24-year-old Georgia native says. Preorder our Dale Earnhardt book hereHeim is officially part of the 23XI team co-owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin — he’s what the modern racing industry calls a “developmental driver.” His 2026 schedule includes a dozen Cup Series races in a fourth 23XI car, where he’s teammates with Riley Herbst, Bubba Wallace and this year’s dominating driver so far, Tyler Reddick. He had seven Cup starts over the 2024-25 seasons. He’s also making at least six starts (or more, depending on sponsorship opportunities) for a fellow Toyota team in the Truck Series, David Gilliland’s Tricon Garage, with whom he’s raced the past three years after two part-time seasons with Kyle Busch’s truck team. He’s already run four of those truck races on his 2026 schedule, and resorting to form, he won two of them. He’s also made two of his 12 Cup starts, with finishes of 15th last week at Kansas and 28th at the season-opening Daytona 500, where he led eight laps. Heim grew

A focus on talent development, a multi-stage selection process, and a pathway into real-world racing: Porsche Motorsport is further developing its digital one-make cup. With the new season of the Porsche Esports Supercup (PESC), the competition will be more closely linked to real-world motorsport. For the winner, this opens up the opportunity to enter real-world racing. “By further developing the series, we are taking the Porsche Esports Supercup to the next level and linking it even more closely with our driver development programmes,” says Nina Braack, Manager Esports at Porsche Motorsport. “Our aim is not only visibility within the sim racing world, but genuine competition in line with Porsche’s DNA. This season, the Australian has the opportunity to compete in real-world racing. The Debrief: 2026 F1 Sim Racing World Championship, Event 02 – Valuable lessons and learnings

Aston Martin Aramco Esports Team returned to F1 Sim Racing action at Formula One Management's headquarters in Biggin Hill for Event Two of the 2026 season. In three Grands Prix across two days, our team made important learnings while racing in Saudi Arabia, Spain and Great Britain. The team were also supported by Aston Martin Aramco's third driver, Jak Crawford, throughout the two-day event. Saudi Arabia During Qualifying, Rubén Pedreño confidently progressed through the opening stages. After a competitive Q2 performance, he reached Q3 and qualified P10, putting himself in a solid position for the race under the lights. Duncan Hofland was unfortunately unable to set a representative lap around Jeddah Corniche Circuit. In the race, Rubén opted for the Medium tyre while Duncan started on Hards. Both drivers made clean starts. After starting from the back of the grid, Duncan opted for an alternate strategy. He was able to gain positions on the opening lap and went on to complete the longest Hard stint out of everyone. Despite both drivers maintaining a clean race, the Qualifying setback proved costly. Rubén crossed the line in P12, with Duncan just behind in P13. Spain For Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Jan Haladej stepped behind the wheel alongside Rubén. Both drivers progressed to Q2, where Jan secured P13, and Rubén continued his strong Qualifying form by advancing to Q3 for the second time in the event and securing P7. With both drivers on the Hard tyre, Jan initially dropped to the back but remained composed, managing his tyres effectively to create a strong strategic offset. He worked hard to get closer to the points positions, but a final-lap incident ended his chances of scoring. Meanwhile, intense midfield battles made for an action-packed race for Rubén, but he unfortunately suffered a late spin while fighting

Save 35% on one of the best budget racing wheels of all time for console and PC sim racing

Save 35% on one of the best budget racing wheels of all time for console and PC sim racing It just keeps going. The Logitech G29/G920 racing wheel design has been around for the best part of a decade, and has introduced countless people to the world of sim racing - myself included. It's a humble but well-made wheel with gear-driven force feedback, a full set of on-board controls, and convenient compatibility with console and PC (the console depends on the model you choose; both work with Windows) that makes it a versatile choice for sim racers just starting out. What's more, at £169 from Amazon for both G29 and G920 variants, it's the lowest this wheel has been since Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Logitech G29 / G920 racing wheel & pedalsNow £169.99 (was £259.00) | The main difference between the two wheels is console compatibility - the G29 works with PlayStation and PC, while the G920 works with Xbox and PC, meaning it makes sense to choose the wheel you want based on which console you're likely to use it with. Weirdly, mind, the G920 also lacks the G29's RPM indicator lights, the plus and minus buttons and control knob in the bottom right corner. With this in mind, I think the G29's extras make it the better choice if you don't have either console. Otherwise, these are identical, so I'll continue talking about them as one homogenous wheel. As well as the G29 being the wheel of choice for designated RPS driver Mark, I used a G29 for a good seven years before eventually upgrading to an entry-level direct drive wheel in the Moza R3, and in my near-decade of ownership I thoroughly enjoyed using Logitech's entry-level option in everything from my heavily-modded Assetto Corsa and Euro

Porsche Esports Supercup returns for 2026 with exciting new format and prize

The Porsche Esports Supercup is set to make its return for the 2026 season with an exciting new format and top prize: the opportunity for the winner to prove themselves in real-life racing. This year, the PESC will be even more competitive, as the winner has the opportunity to progress their racing career from the virtual world onto real-world tracks. With sim racing establishing itself as a credible entry point into professional motorsport - and already used as a valuable tool by racing drivers - the championship will create a new connection between digital competition and real-world racing. Taking place on iRacing, the season gets underway in April, with the National Championships and the Global Open Qualifiers, followed by the Regional Championships this summer. From there, 32 drivers will qualify to take part in the Porsche Esports Supercup World Championship series - the pinnacle of the competition. Five candidates of the 32 will be chosen by Porsche Motorsport to participate in a Talent Shoot-Out in Cologne, with two of them then competing on track. The winner will become a development prospect, and be given the opportunity to compete in a Porsche One-Make Series in 2027. The Porsche Esports Supercup qualification process Across the PESC season there will be four championships on iRacing, beginning with the National Championships. These are organised by official national Porsche markets, and serve as the first step in the qualification pathway. This year, the top three drivers from each National Championship, including the Porsche Esports Carrera Cup North America, Great Britain, and the Porsche Esports Endurance Trophy Nürburgring, are eligible to qualify for the Regional Championship. The Global Open Qualifier (GOQ) is the second stage of the qualification pathway. After the National Championships, drivers who did not qualify via their national series, or who come from

My new F1 sim racing rig is both more affordable and portable

When I last built a racing simulator to fuel my F1 obsession, I tested all of the fancy equipment with all of the bells and whistles. For my latest project, I wanted to build something that was not only more affordable but also portable, so that the racing rig wasn’t in the way when not in use. I found my answer in the form of the Playseat Challenge DD F1 Edition. At $799 in Australia, it’s not cheap, but by sim racing standards, it’s a reasonably priced mid-range cockpit. Best of all, it folds up and packs away with your chosen steering wheel and pedals still attached. I paired the seat with several Logitech racing accessories this time, including the RS50 System, which is compatible with consoles and PC. It’s so nice being able to quickly pack up and then set up the sim racing rig without needing to reattach everything at the same time. You can see my latest F1 sim racing rig in action over on the GadgetGuy YouTube channel.
