PXN is expanding its higher-end sim racing range with two new Formula-style steering wheels, both featuring 4.3-inch displays and extensive controls, ahead of their Gamescom 2026 debut. PXN has revealed two new Formula-style sim racing steering wheels as part of its Gamescom 2026 hardware lineup. The new W FC Formula Wheel and W FS Formula Wheel target different positions in the company’s expanding ecosystem, with the W FC presented as the flagship option and the W FS offering a more accessible 290mm alternative. Both wheels feature integrated 4.3-inch displays and support extensive configuration, while PXN is increasingly positioning its latest hardware beyond the entry-level segment traditionally associated with the brand. The two Formula wheels will be shown alongside PXN’s new S-Series Direct Drive bases and other racing hardware at Gamescom in Cologne. PXN W FC becomes the new flagship Formula wheel The PXN W FC Formula Wheel sits at the top of the new range and uses real carbon fiber for both its front plate and rear cover. PXN has equipped the wheel with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display and a customizable user interface, allowing telemetry and dashboard information to be displayed directly on the wheel. The control layout also includes self-centering toggle switches and 12-position thumb encoders aimed at making adjustments available without removing the driver’s hands from the grips. The W FC also uses adjustable Hall-effect shift paddles and a CNC-machined anodized quick-release module. RGB lighting can be configured through both PXN’s own SimRacing software and SimHub, expanding the customization available for telemetry-driven lighting and other visual functions. PXN has not yet published the wheel’s dimensions, weight or final control count, so those specifications remain to be confirmed. W FS offers a 290mm alternative The W FS Formula Wheel takes a slightly different approach. PXN describes it as the

Review – iRacing Arcade People into the competitive racing game scene are probably well aware of iRacing. It’s a subscription based racing simulator that makes Assetto Corsa feel like Mario Kart by comparison. Its focus is on pure, unadulterated realism, to the point that major racing organizations such as NASCAR have used iRacing as the basis for their competitive esports series. As you’d expect, this isn’t exactly the kind of experience you can easily translate into a console game aimed at a less hardcore audience. iRacing Studios‘ solution was to create a more colorful, newcomer friendly take on its hardcore racing formula, aptly named iRacing Arcade. It’s certainly more approachable at first glance, with its colorful visuals and chibi characters, but that raises the obvious question: is this actually an arcade racer? More importantly, does it manage to hit the sweet spot between simulation and accessibility? I don’t know why, but racing game developers are struggling with understanding the concept of an “arcade racer” nowadays. To me, an arcade racer is the kind of “easy to pick up” racing game where you can just select a course, a car, and just jump into a race in less than a minute. No need to worry about a career, finances, menus, just pure driving, usually without the most realistic of controls and physics. iRacing Arcade… isn’t that. Whilst far from being as realistic and prohibitive towards newcomers as its big brother, it sits on a bizarre limbo, not knowing if it wants to be a kid-friendly racer with goofy visuals, or a racing sim. A less realistic racing sim, but a racing sim regardless. It’s easy to grasp its controls and physics, that’s for certain. But iRacing Arcade focuses more on a simplistic career mode that is the core of its somewhat

Nacon’s latest News From The Pits showcase was absolutely stuffed with racing announcements, ranging from new sim hardware and console-compatible direct drive wheels to fresh looks at MXGP 26, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, Gear.Club Unlimited 3, and what comes next for the WRC series. - REVOSIM RS Lite aims to make direct drive racing considerably cheaper - The 10Nm RS Pure is coming to PS5 and Xbox - Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is bringing houses back - MXGP 26 gets an extended gameplay showing - Gear.Club Unlimited 3 pre-orders are live - Endurance Motorsport Series targets early 2027 - And Nacon is starting to tease the future of WRC The third episode of the company’s racing-focused show also revealed what could be one of the more interesting pieces of affordable sim racing hardware arriving this year: the new REVOSIM RS Lite, a 3.2Nm direct drive wheel bundle priced at €279.90. Nacon says that will make it the cheapest direct drive wheel on the market when it arrives later in 2026, and while we’ll need to see exactly where competing prices sit by launch, getting direct drive hardware anywhere close to the €280 mark is certainly going to get people’s attention. You can watch the entire News From The Pits Episode 3 showcase below. REVOSIM RS Lite aims to make direct drive racing considerably cheaper The biggest hardware reveal was the RS Lite, positioned as the new entry point into Nacon’s REVOSIM ecosystem. Rather than relying on the belt or gear-driven force feedback traditionally found in cheaper racing wheels, the RS Lite uses a 3.2Nm direct drive wheelbase. That means the steering wheel is connected directly to the motor, theoretically allowing more immediate and detailed force feedback. The package also includes a Hall effect pedal set using magnetic sensors

“Finally, NFS Underground 3”: Heatwarped brings back old-school arcade racing Fans of early-2000s arcade racing games have a new reason to get excited. Indie studio Sealime has unveiled Heatwarped, an open-world street racer that looks like a modern take on the classic Need for Speed Underground formula. The reveal trailer shows exactly what the game is going for: neon-lit streets, night races, heavily customized cars, drifting, nitrous and the kind of exaggerated visual effects that defined arcade racers of the 2000s. The overall presentation is so close to Need for Speed Underground 2 that it could easily be mistaken for an unofficial sequel at first glance. Heatwarped is set in the fictional city of Ratfield, where players take part in illegal street races, customize their cars and build a reputation among other racers. The game also features an in-game racing forum that players can use to meet other racers and find events. The developers are clearly leaning into the old-school formula rather than trying to reinvent arcade racing. The game offers an open world, various race types, drifting and time trials, while car customization plays a major role. The current demo already gives players a chance to try some of these mechanics. The project has attracted plenty of attention from Need for Speed fans, with many players comparing it directly to Underground and Underground 2. The visual style, interface and overall atmosphere are particularly familiar, and one YouTube commenter summed up the reaction simply: “Finally, NFS Underground 3.” There is, however, a reason not to get too carried away just yet. Heatwarped is still in development, and the demo is clearly not a finished product. Player feedback has been generally enthusiastic, but some have pointed to issues with driving physics, AI and technical optimization. Still, the project is already doing

With Nacon filing for insolvency, it was announced in May that Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown developer KT Racing will suffer job losses. The ramifications are becoming clear, as development for future Test Drive updates has slowed down with the team working at a smaller capacity. “We have to be honest here,” Community Manager AlexVII wrote in a recent Solar Club newsletter. “It’s evident that Nacon and KT are facing new challenges at the moment, and we no longer have the capacity to tackle multiple complex features at the same time.” As a result, the Online Racing Centre originally planned for next month’s Season 7 update is postponed. Instead, the next season will be a smaller update, featuring six cars including the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Mazda RX-7 and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV. It will also introduce several quality-of-life improvements, such as improved hypercar driving physics. KT Racing is now prioritising the development of buyable houses in Season 8, a staple lifestyle element of previous Test Drive Unlimited games. “Right now we are focusing on housing to give the community the best experience possible,” Alex VII continued. “Even though the ORC is important, and as you can see, we have already started working on it, we have to focus on Season 8 and the housing development because it is one of, if not the most important features.” Discussion

Automobilista 2 has spent years standing out for something that has also been one of its biggest contradictions: it offers an enormous variety of cars, eras, and circuits, but it still does not have a fully implemented official career mode. Reiza Studios confirmed in February 2026 that its Career Mode remains in development and that the intention is to introduce it in stages, with an initial implementation planned for the second half of 2026. Into that gap has come Zero to Apex, an application created by developer Josh — known as jozeed1 on OverTake — that is trying to do something considerably more ambitious than simply saving the results of a few races: build around Automobilista 2 a persistent, automated career and a motorsport world that evolves season after season. Its first public version appeared on July 21, 2026 and, barely a month later, the project is already on version 0.6.4, released on August 19. And that is the key to understanding what Zero to Apex really is. It is not a traditional story mode. There is no scripted campaign in which every player meets the same characters and goes through the same scenes. It is, rather, a dynamic single-player career mode that uses Automobilista 2 as the driving simulator and adds around it the professional progression system that the game still does not provide natively. The problem Zero to Apex is trying to solve Automobilista 2 allows players to create custom races and championships, but turning them into a coherent professional career requires a fair amount of work from the player. You have to choose categories, configure events, keep track of results and, with less integrated external solutions, constantly switch between the simulator and other applications. Zero to Apex was born precisely to remove that friction. Its developer explains

Logitech RS50 System for PS/PC Is Currently 17% Off on Amazon Australia. - Jamie Robinson - 8 hours ago - 1 min read If you've been looking at getting into sim racing, or you've been waiting for a good opportunity to upgrade your current racing wheel setup, this could be a pretty good time to take a look at the Logitech RS50. The Playstation/PC version of the RS50 is currently 17% off on Amazon Australia, making it a particularly interesting option for anyone who has been sitting on the fence about making the jump to a direct drive setup. I spent a considerable amount of time with the RS50 for my original review, and it genuinely surprised me just how much of a difference it made compared to the entry-level racing wheel setup I was coming from. This isn't one of those upgrades where you get a slightly nicer wheel and a little bit more force feedback. The difference is immediately noticeable, particularly once you get it mounted onto a proper racing rig. I've been using it across a range of racing games and it has quickly become one of those pieces of gaming hardware that I find difficult to go back from once I've experienced it. At 17% off, it's definitely worth considering if you've been thinking about upgrading.

MOZA Racing has confirmed a global Gamescom 2026 debut linked to Mercedes-Benz, one year after the two companies first announced their sim racing partnership. MOZA Racing has teased a new Mercedes-Benz sim racing product ahead of Gamescom 2026, confirming that the result of its collaboration with the German manufacturer will make its global debut at the Cologne event. The teaser was published on August 22 with the message: “MOZA Racing|Mercedes-Benz — bringing decades of motorsport heritage into the world of simulation.” The announcement stops short of identifying the product itself. MOZA has not yet confirmed its name, specifications, price, platform compatibility or commercial release date, meaning the full details are being reserved for Gamescom, which takes place from August 26-30, 2026. Mercedes-Benz Partnership Moves Towards Its First Product MOZA’s relationship with Mercedes-Benz is not entirely new. The company announced a partnership with Mercedes-AMG at Gamescom 2025, stating at the time that the two brands were working together on future sim racing products without revealing what form the collaboration would take. The latest teaser is therefore significant because it moves that partnership towards an actual public debut. MOZA specifically describes the Gamescom appearance as a “global debut”, strongly indicating that visitors in Cologne will see the first hardware or simulation project resulting from the collaboration. For now, however, MOZA has not confirmed whether the reveal will be a steering wheel, another type of sim racing peripheral or a broader Mercedes-Benz-themed product. Until the full presentation, details beyond the official Mercedes-Benz branding remain unconfirmed. MOZA Builds a Major Gamescom 2026 Line-Up The Mercedes-Benz reveal joins an increasingly busy Gamescom programme for MOZA. The company has also teased a Ford Mustang GTD-related sim racing project and confirmed that its officially licensed MotoGP simulation hardware will receive its first detailed public showing in Cologne.

From lockdown video games to pro racing driver A 21-year-old racing driver has spoken of his "unconventional" route into motor-racing - which began with computer games during the Covid-19 lockdown. Will Redford, a race winner at the GT Challenge de las Américas last month, said it was his dad that got him into the sport in the first place. He said: "My dad had always been really into racing sims and stuff like that and he bought me a subscription to a programme called iRacing and there was nothing else to do, I got right into it." After getting to grips with virtual racing he looked to get behind the wheel of a real car - getting his breakthrough in a scholarship competition. Redford, originally from Warrington, told Ian Puckey on BBC Essex's Sport Extra show that his journey in the sport has been "interesting" but "amazing". "I took a bit of an unconventional route into motorsport. I started sim racing... so playing computer games and that was during the first COVID lockdown. "Quite naively quite quickly I wanted to get into a real car not understanding how you've got to raise the money as a driver to be able to go and race." He said that he did "quite well" in a scholarship drive he won and it "spiralled" from there, joining Bourne HPP in Witham, Essex. Racing a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in Guyana last month for the team was "the biggest opportunity" in his career. "Terry Radbourne from Bourne HPP called me and asked me to race in Guyana. British motoring magazine evo has published a wide-ranging interview with Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, covering everything from the challenges of tire physics to Polyphony Digital’s relationship with Sony. It was conducted at the FAT Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria, earlier this year, where Yamauchi joined Polestar as the company continued its promotional tie-in between the Polestar 5 and Gran Turismo 7. Much of the ground covered will be familiar to GTPlanet readers, but there are a few comments worth digging into, including an interesting one about the pressure Yamauchi used to face from Sony. Sony Pushback Has Eased When asked whether he has ever been told by his bosses at Sony to cut corners or that his team is taking too long to produce new games, Yamauchi gave an answer that will raise eyebrows among anyone who followed the series through the late 2000s: “Up to about Gran Turismo 5, yes. Nowadays, not so much.” Of course, Gran Turismo 5 had one of the most protracted and publicly scrutinized development cycles in the series’ history with two significant announced delays, so it’s interesting to hear Yamauchi acknowledge that corporate patience was being tested during that era. Yamauchi also repeated the now-familiar figure that a single car takes roughly eight months to complete. That covers both the graphics model and the physics work required to make it behave like the real thing, compared to roughly two hours per car back in the original Gran Turismo days. Recreating the Nürburgring Nordschleife, he said, took four years. Tires Remain the Hardest Problem On the simulation side, Yamauchi was frank about where the biggest challenge lies: tires. Components like suspension and drivetrains can be modeled with little gap between simulation and reality, but tires are a different story, with some of
