The Ligier Junior Formula Championship will return to action this weekend at NOLA with a mix of first- and second-generation F4 cars. Feeder Series tells you all you need to know about the third season of the Parella ladder’s entry-level series. By Marco Albertini The Ligier Junior Formula Championship was conceived in 2024 as a cheaper alternative to F4 US, using the latter’s previous generation cars in a non-FIA-certified series run by the same organisers. Last year, Uruguayan Gastón Irazú scored five wins on his way to securing the title for Champagne Racing, with whom he will drive for in F4 US this year after receiving a scholarship for winning the LJFC title. From 2026 onwards, LJFC is set to feature two classes as first-generation and second-generation Ligier F4 cars co-exist. The Gen 1 class will feature Ligier JS F416 chassis running Mountune-serviced Honda engines, while the Gen 2 class will be composed of Ligier Storm–powered Ligier JS F422 cars, albeit with a modified electronics control unit to be level with the first-generation car’s. The two classes will have separate podiums, and separate scholarships will be awarded. The Gen 1 champion will be given a one-year lease of a Ligier JS F422 chassis and Ligier Storm engine to race in F4 US the following year. The Gen 2 champion will receive a similar prize, but in the event that they already have their own car, the series will provide the equivalent value of the lease in a Ligier parts credit as well as any necessary parts upgrades. Both champions will also receive sets of tires from Hankook and paid entry fees from the series promoter. The championship is generally open to drivers 14 and older. SUPERCARS teams’ championship leader Tickford Racing has bolstered its brains trust with the recruitment of performance engineer Rafal Lewandowski.
The Polish guru comes to Tickford with a diverse resume, including a stint with Toyota in the World Endurance Championship.
Lewandowski started with the Melbourne-based Ford squad two weeks ago.
“It’s effectively a new position to sit between the two cars as performance engineer and help take a load off Brad (Wischusen, technical director), particularly with sim work and that sort of thing,” Tickford CEO Simon Brookhouse told V8 Sleuth.
“He’s an expert in sim, so it’s something he has brought in with a different skillset and someone from outside of Supercars to see if we can get some different opinions and new views on what we can do better.
“The drivers love him.”
Lewandowski’s appointment follows Grove Racing signing Italian engineer Riccardo Corte from Ferrari’s Formula 1 program.
Corte is race engineering Kai Allen this season.

Let me just get this out of the way: the best part about playing the preview build of Forza Horizon 6 was sitting on the couch. I've been describing FH6, which launches on Xbox and PC on May 19, 2026, and later this year for PlayStation 5, to friends as a delightful change of pace in recent driving games. No demanding license system or expensive sim rig required. Just a video game, a controller, and some free time. The way video games were meant to be enjoyed. The actual driving still has that easy Horizon Festival charm. You gain nothing but firmware updates and expenses by playing this on a dedicated sim rig. The ability to design your own garage and transform an open area into your very own Pastranaland is just more evidence that FH6 is meant for joysticks rather than a steering wheel and pedals. And honestly, the garage stuff is among our favorite new items in the game. The way it has been described in the teasers leading up to its launch doesn't really prepare you for intricately adding, scaling, and designing every inch of your virtual shop space. The damn thing might as well be a tool for preparing contractors to build the real stuff. Williams have announced the appointment of Dan Milner from rivals Mercedes to act as their new Chief Engineer – Vehicle Technology. Milner joins Williams after a 20-year association with Mercedes, including a 14-year stint at the Brackley-based outfit across their Honda, Brawn GP and Silver Arrows eras. During his time at the F1 operation, where he progressed from simulation and design roles into senior leadership, Milner played his part in multiple World Championship triumphs – including eight consecutive Constructors’ titles. After several years heading up powertrain integration and transmission design, Milner most recently served as Chief Engineer for R&D (Research & Development). Outside F1, he has held senior design roles in the America’s Cup sailing competition with Ineos Britannia, and has also worked in the defence sector. Williams explained that Milner “will be accountable for Vehicle Technology, driving on- and off-car performance through complex, integrated technology programmes”. Miami and Montreal to host FIA Formula 2 Championship Rounds in 2026 Formula 2 will be racing in North America for the first time with Miami and Montreal to host Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2026 season. Formula 2 have announced that Miami and Montreal will host Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2026 calendar, alongside Formula 1 – the first time the Championship will race in North America. The opportunity for Miami and Montreal to join the F2 calendar has come about following the news that the Sakhir and Jeddah Rounds will not take place in April. The FIA Formula 2 Championship will go to Miami, USA, on May 1-3 for what will be the second Round of the 2026 season, followed by Montreal, Canada, on May 22-24, as Round 3, before returning to Europe, starting with Monte-Carlo, Monaco, on June 04-07. Stefano Domenicali, President & CEO of Formula 1, said: “While it has not been possible to go ahead with the two races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia this month, and we look forward to being back with our passionate fans there as soon as possible, it is great news for our fans, the drivers and the teams that Formula 2 will be racing in Miami and Montreal. "Bruno [Michel] and the whole F2 family have done a great job, working closely with us, the FIA, and the Miami and Montreal promoters, to ensure we limit the gap in racing for the championship this season and I want to thank them for making this possible.
