Gasly hopes Japan result provides ‘good motivation’ for Alpine after ‘long, intense race’ with Verstappen Pierre Gasly reflects on scoring more points for Alpine, as the Frenchman topped the midfield in Japan. Pierre Gasly hopes his P7 finish in Japan on Sunday will provide "good motivation" to everyone at Alpine after holding off Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who "would not leave my heels all the way through." The result, after "a long, intense race", saw Gasly top the midfield in Suzuka, leaving the Frenchman eighth in the Championship standings – a fine return from the first three rounds of the season. After impressing in pre-season testing, Alpine did not quite get the dream start to the season in Melbourne, with Gasly picking up just one point with a P10 finish. But sixth in Shanghai and seventh in Japan shows just how far the team have come since propping up the standings last year. The Alpine driver had to work hard for his result in Japan, battling former team mate Verstappen for much of the race. The Dutchman did get past at one point, but Gasly was able to rally and sneak back ahead. “I’m very happy. It was a long, intense race, especially after the Safety Car,” said Gasly. “The first part of the race was good, I felt comfortable, a bit of a gap to [Verstappen] but I knew there would always be a Safety Car at some point so I wasn’t getting too comfortable. “[The] second part of the race this guy would not leave my heels all the way through! I had to check on him five times a lap just to understand exactly the gap and make sure I was pushing as hard as I could, make sure not to make any mistakes, really nail all

Our Verdict Hall effect triggers and thumbsticks, a solid build, and a charging stand in such a reasonably priced package make the D05 an almost clear winner over the likes of the Xbox controller it wishes to imitate. For - Specs and feel above its price point - Neat aesthetic - Won't need replacing for a long time Against - EasySMX TMR controller not much more expensive - Gold trim is a bit flashy - No software PC Gamer's got your back With both TMR and Hall effect controllers coming down in price, the question is no longer 'is Hall effect worth it?' but 'is it cheap enough to not just upgrade to TMR?' And I've had that question in my hand over the last few weeks, comparing the EasySMX D10 and D05 head-to-head. After that time, I can say the answer is 'it depends'. I know that's an unsatisfying answer, but reality is rarely straightforward. The D05 comes in a single colourway, but luckily, I like it. It's all black, except for a golden D-pad and golden triggers. The bumpers, notably, are a similar black to the face buttons and joysticks, and the whole thing looks both rather flashy and fairly clean. The included charging stand is relatively basic, in contrast, being black all over with 'EasySMX' written on the front. However, once plugged in and on, the controller kicks into life and becomes even showier. There is a set of RGB lights underneath each thumbstick. The black plastic has a fair amount of light leakage, fitting somewhere between a normal controller and the aesthetics of that old, see-through Xbox. Light leakage, when paired with RGB, can sometimes look a little cheap, but the D05 mostly pulls it off. That's all helped by the fact that the controller itself

Hadjar admits mood at Red Bull is ‘not good’ after tricky start to 2026 Red Bull find themselves in a midfield battle after another difficult weekend in Japan. Isack Hadjar has admitted that the mood inside the Red Bull camp after Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix was "not good". The Frenchman endured a frustrating 53-lap race at the Suzuka Circuit that ultimately resulted in a point-less P12 finish, as Red Bull continued their difficult start to the 2026 campaign. Hadjar started P8 having out-qualified team mate Max Verstappen for the second time this season after the Dutchman failed to reach the final segment of Qualifying. But he lost several positions over the opening laps having depleted his battery and spent the first stage of the race becoming frustrated behind Arvid Lindblad's Racing Bulls machine. After finding himself down in P13 after the sole Safety Car period, Hadjar only improved one further position by the chequered flag after a difficult race. "It was just a really long race. I had a good start and was fighting Pierre [Gasly] just like I wanted to on Lap 1," he said post-race. "I ran out of battery very early on the start/finish straight and started to be overtaken by everyone on every lap [while] trying to recover energy. I was just stuck for a while so it was not very nice in the car." Verstappen could only manage P8 in the final classification, meaning Red Bull have only gathered 16 points so far this season – four of which came from Hadjar in the Chinese Grand Prix. It leaves the squad sixth in the Teams' Championship, with Verstappen suggesting Red Bull were now in a midfield battle as opposed to being front runners. Hadjar admitted the feeling within Red Bull was far from ideal, and

“Project Motor Racing” receives an expansion with the Japanese GT500 Pack released today, which includes nine GT500 cars from the current Super GT season and the historic JGTC era, as well as a laser-scanned Japanese race track. The DLC pack integrates after the latest 2.0 update Straight4 Studios' simulation brings the world's most technically demanding GT class to the table. While the GT500 category cars utilize the silhouettes of production vehicles, they are technically based on purebred prototype chassis. The package is divided into two parts, covering both the modern era and the "Golden Era" of the early 2000s. Modern GT500 EVO (focus on aerodynamics and pace): - 2024 Honda Civic GT500 - 2022 Honda NSX GT500 - 2022 Nissan Calsonic Impul Z GT500 - 2021 Nissan Motul Autech GT-R GT500 - 2022 Toyota GR Supra GT500 JGTC Icons (Historical Vehicle Control): - 2003 Honda NSX JGTC - 2004 Nissan Fairlady Z (Z33) JGTC - 2003 Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) JGTC - 2002 Toyota Supra JGTC Physical advancements and track precision Technically, the Japanese GT500 Pack utilizes the latest iteration of the tire and physics model from “Project Motor Racing"The goal is more direct feedback and a clearer differentiation between the eras. While the modern EVO models impress with high downforce and stability, the JGTC classics, due to their mechanical characteristics, require different weight management and more precise steering." The Japanese racetrack included in the package was digitized using laser scanning. This guarantees the exact representation of bumps and kerbs, which is particularly critical for the sensitive aerodynamics of the GT500 cars. In the simulation, millimeters of ride height often determine whether airflow separation occurs. Relevance for sim racers The integration of Super GT (formerly JGTC) is rare in Western racing simulations, as the licensing rights are often exclusively held

Max Verstappen’s future in Formula 1 could take a dramatic turn, with bookmakers now pricing the Red Bull driver and four-time World Champion as a genuine candidate to walk away from the sport as early as next year. According to BettingLounge, Verstappen is no longer a long shot to quit. Their latest market has him at 6/4 to retire from Formula 1 in 2026, with 1/2 still favouring him to stay. But the shift in sentiment is clear, driven by the Dutchman’s increasingly blunt assessment of the sport under the new 2026 regulations. (Note: Odds of 6/4 (six-to-four) mean that for every $4 you stake, your gross win is $6. While odds of 1/2 mean that for every $1 you put down you win $1.50 in total.) The backdrop is familiar. A frustrated Verstappen, a difficult Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, and a growing sense that Formula 1 is no longer delivering what he values most. He did not hide it: “I was definitely counting them off. Fifteen to go, ten to go, five to go. Come on, yes, it is over. I try to laugh about it, because there is no point getting frustrated all the time. It is obviously not how it should be.” That remark, delivered after another energy management-heavy race, has only fuelled speculation that the four-time World Champion is losing patience with the direction of Formula 1. What next for Verstappen? The most striking movement in the odds is not just around retirement, but what comes next. BettingLounge now lists endurance racing as the clear favourite for Verstappen’s future in 2027 at 4/6. Remaining in Formula 1 sits at 5/2, while a move into professional sim racing is priced at 5/1. Streaming and advisory roles trail further behind. This aligns closely with Verstappen’s own public

Former Renault F1 driver and F1 TV analyst Jolyon Palmer takes a close look at the performance from the man voted Driver of the Day in Suzuka.
“Turns out when we start these things we’re pretty good.” That was the radio message from Oscar Piastri as he crossed the line to take second place in the Japanese Grand Prix.
