REDMOND, Wash. — Police in Redmond are asking for the public’s help identifying multiple suspects tied to a series of alleged overnight vehicle prowls earlier this week.
According to Redmond Police Department, eight people were seen on surveillance footage inside secured parking garages at the Capella Apartments and Village Overlake Building between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators said the group was seen entering vehicles, tampering with locks and carrying bags and backpacks through the garages.
Police said one vehicle connected to the group was a stolen dark gray Lexus with Washington plate CTX8719, which had been reported stolen out of Renton.
Detectives believe the incidents may be connected to several car prowls reported the same night. Anyone with information is asked to contact Redmond police at 425-556-2500 and reference case No. 26-012501.

Man accused of hitting 2 teens with car in Wilkinsburg allegedly connected to stabbing, crime spree The investigation continues following an alleged violent crime spree that spread across several Allegheny County communities. Police say 45-year-old George Mitchell Jr. is accused in connection with these incidents Thursday, including a fatal stabbing in Penn Hills and multiple hit-and-run incidents. According to a criminal complaint, the events began around 3 p.m. in North Braddock, where police were called to Bell Avenue. Police say a woman told police a man matching Mitchell’s description held her at gunpoint before driving away in a black Cadillac. The complaint goes on to say that, about an hour later, Penn Hills police were called to Dauntless Drive, where Mitchell allegedly attempted to carjack an older couple with a knife and then leave the scene. The criminal complaint says officers responded to Sampson Street shortly after for a vehicle matching the Cadillac’s description that struck two people. One of those victims was David Mallon. He told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 reporter Felicity Taylor that he was working on the storm drain near his house when he was hit. "I stood up, and honestly, the next thing I know, I remember being seeing a black hood and gravel where I'm being thrown and that just happened that fast. And I just. So I rolled over and I see my nephew, my neighbor was fine. And then I looked over and seen the car and tried to read the license plate," he said. Mallon said he has up to an 18 week recovery period as he suffered a broken collarbone and a fracture to his pelvis, among other injuries. RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two teenagers accused of being part of a multicounty vehicle break-in spree appeared in front of a Wake County judge on Friday. Lester Mayo, 18, has been charged in connection with a rash of vehicle break-ins across Durham County, Wake County, and several Triangle cities, including Durham, Raleigh, Cary and Morrisville. According to the Raleigh Police Department, Mayo was served with 38 warrants totaling 110 felony charges and 52 misdemeanor charges. He was arrested on Thursday. He received no bond as a result of a weapons charge and a $250,000 secured bond on other charges in Wake County. Separately, he received a $250,000 secured bond for charges out of Durham County. A Durham Police Department spokesperson told ABC11 that Mayo was wanted in connection with several criminal offenses in the Bull City at the time of his arrest. Corey Wright, also 18, was arrested by Cary Police and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, resisting a public officer and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Wright received a $10,000 secured bond and is due back in court later this month. Raleigh Police responded to a report of larceny from motor vehicles in the 1900 block of South Saunders Street on April 28, where a person recorded a suspect breaking into vehicles while brandishing a handgun, authorities said. Based on that incident, they were able to connect this to vehicle break-ins in Cary, Morrisville, Garner, Apex, Chapel Hill, and other locations to a group of suspects operating from the Durham area. ABC11 is tracking crime and safety across Durham, Raleigh and in your neighborhood Authorities said the suspects largely targeted high-density parking lots and construction sites, looking for firearms. On May 8, 2026, California Attorney General Rob Bonta, together with the District Attorneys of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Napa, and Sonoma Counties, and with support from CalPrivacy, announced a $12.75 million settlement with General Motors LLC and OnStar LLC (collectively “GM” to resolve alleged violations of the CCPA, the Unfair Competition Law, and the False Advertising Law. The settlement, subject to court approval, arises from GM's alleged collection and sale of driving and location data from hundreds of thousands of California consumers through its OnStar connected vehicle service to two data brokers without adequate notice or consent. The Massive Penalty At $12.75 million, this is by far the largest CCPA penalty in California history, nearly five times the prior record set by the Disney settlement earlier this year. The penalty is also only part of the story. The settlement imposes substantial injunctive obligations on GM going forward, including restrictions on how it collects, uses, and shares connected vehicle data. Particularly notable is the contrast with the FTC, which in January 2026 finalized an order settling substantially similar allegations against GM with no monetary penalty. California is not standing still, and I don't see federal privacy preemption happening anytime soon. 2. The First True Connected Vehicle Case There have been prior CCPA actions involving automakers but those arose from alleged opt-out and website violations. LAPD releases video of suspect's car from San Fernando Valley hit-and-run Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department released a video of a black Toyota Prius connected to a deadly hit-and-run crash in the San Fernando Valley. The collision happened on April 10 at about 10 p.m. near the area of Sherman Way and Winnetka Avenue. Investigators said the black Toyota Prius crashed into a pedestrian, a man in his 30s, who was crossing the street and drove away. While the victim was lying on the ground, a black Chevrolet Camaro ran over his body and also fled. Detectives said they recovered car parts from the scene and hope they can help them identify the suspects. The city of LA is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for any information leading to the offender's identification, arrest and conviction or resolution through civil compromise. Slotkin: Allowing Chinese cars in U.S. poses economic, security risks U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Holly, warned American automakers would be at a severe disadvantage if Chinese cars were allowed to be sold in the domestic market. Speaking at a Detroit Regional Chamber event on Thursday, May 7, Slotkin touted legislation she recently introduced alongside U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, that aims at banning Chinese automakers from entering the American market. Along with economic competitiveness, Slotkin said allowing cars from China into the U.S. would create security concerns, primarily around the data gathered by vehicles. "That is the exact detailed information an adversarial nation wants," Sloktin said at the event, which was livestreamed. When journalist and moderator Guy Gordon asked Slotkin why that's not a concern with other companies that collect data, including American automakers and social media websites, the first-term senator replied those companies are subject to American law and operating practices. "We've worked with these companies for decades and decades," she said. "That's not my concern." Slotkin and Moreno's bill, introduced April 29, would ban the importation, manufacture and sale of Chinese vehicles, as well as other connected equipment and software, in the U.S. The bill also would ban other adversarial nations from selling their cars and car equipment in the country, although the legislation is primarily targeted at China. The bill, and Slotkin's remarks Thursday, come as President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to meet in Beijing next week and discuss an ongoing trade dispute between the two nations. Chinese vehicles aren't directly banned in the U.S., but face steep tariffs designed to make the cars less attractive compared to other options.
