Joshua Rogers makes stunning motorsport debut under Coanda Esports banner Callum Mercer, Senior Editor Last Updated: 21/04/2026 Coanda Esports driver Joshua Rogers has made an eye-catching real-world motorsport debut, taking three podium finishes at Donington Park in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB championship. According to Traxion, the Australian sim racing star finished third, second and third across the weekend while driving a Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 RS Clubsport for Team Parker Racing. That result matters immediately because Rogers was not simply making up the numbers on his first outing. He topped practice, qualified on the front row just over a tenth away from pole, and has already been confirmed for a full Porsche Sprint Challenge GB campaign in 2026. It is the kind of debut that turns a crossover story into something more substantial. Joshua Rogers’ career so far Rogers, 25, is best known in sim racing as one of the standout names of the modern Porsche ecosystem. He built his reputation through top-level competition in iRacing and became a multiple Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup champion, later establishing himself as a factory-level driver under the Porsche Coanda Esports Racing setup, as documented by RaceSpot. That background is what makes this move meaningful. Rogers is not an influencer trying a track day for content; he is an elite sim racer stepping into a BTCC-supporting series with the pace to lead sessions straight away, which gives this debut far more competitive weight. What this debut means for Coanda Esports and sim racing’s talent pipeline This matters now because strong sim-to-real transitions still need proof points, even after years of the scene arguing that elite virtual racers can handle real machinery. Rogers delivering three podiums in his first Porsche Sprint Challenge GB weekend is exactly the sort of evidence organisations, manufacturers and

Max Verstappen praised for ‘extraordinary’ move during NLS5 Nurburgring race Max Verstappen missed out on another win at the Nurburgring, but he still showed why so many people rate his skill behind the wheel. Returning to the Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie for the fifth round, Verstappen was making his second appearance of the season after also racing in NLS2 back in March. Once again, he was driving for Winward Racing in a Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo. In that earlier race, Verstappen had crossed the line with a comfortable lead but was later disqualified because his team used an additional set of tyres. This time around, he looked set for another strong result until damage to his car derailed those hopes. Verstappen started alongside Lucas Auer and managed to work his way into first place. But that lead didn’t last long as he picked up damage and had to come into the pits for repairs. Auer later rejoined well down the order. By then, they were three laps off the pace and sitting 87th overall. Although they climbed back up to 39th by the end, any chance of a meaningful result had already slipped away despite what was another impressive showing from Verstappen until that point. Neil Cole and Arjuna Kankipati react to Verstappen’s NLS5 pass Verstappen had a memorable battle with Christopher Hasse early in the race, making a bold move for the lead. Hasse, who went on to win alongside Alexander Sims and Ben Green, was full of praise for Verstappen’s effort. It wasn’t the only highlight from Verstappen, who also made an overtake at the pit lane entry that he’d practised on the simulator before the race. Commentators Arjuna Kankipati and Neil Cole were both caught off guard by how Verstappen moved into P1 during NLS5. Kankipati said on the

A new week brings a new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races, with three fresh events now live and running through next Monday. It’s a reasonably standard lineup of a one-make sprint, Gr.4 middle-distance, and Gr.3 finale, though Race C has enough tire wear to give it a proper strategic element. Race A puts the Nissan 180SX Type X ’96 around the short layout at Fuji Speedway on Sports Hard tires. It’s a four-lap, twelve-car sprint with car settings locked to Specified, so it’s a pure driver test with no setup work to do beforehand. Race B is Gr.4 around High Speed Ring for six laps on Racing Hards, with no mandatory stop and a BOP/Tuning restriction weighted toward top-end pace rather than cornering grip. Race C is the strategy race this week. Thirteen laps of the Red Bull Ring in Gr.3 with 2x fuel, 4x tire wear, and a single mandatory pit stop. Racing Softs are the only dry compound available, so there’s no compound decision to make, just the question of when to stop. At 4x wear those Softs will be well past their peak by the end of a long stint, and the Red Bull Ring’s heavy traction zones out of Turns 1 and 3 punish worn rubber more than most layouts. GT7 Daily Races (April 20): Race A - Track: Fuji International Speedway (Short) (4 laps) - Car: Nissan 180SX Type X ’96 — Garage/Specified Car - Tires: Sports Hard - Settings: Specified - Start Type: Rolling Start - Mandatory Pit Stop: – - Fuel Multiplier: 1x - Tire Multiplier: 1x GT7 Daily Races (April 20): Race B - Track: High Speed Ring (6 laps) - Car: Gr.4 — Garage/Specified Car - Power/Weight/PP Limit: BOP (H) - Tires: Racing Hard, Intermediate, Wet - Settings: Partially

Only four drivers have won five of the first nine NASCAR Cup Series races to start a season, and Tyler Reddick is one of them, having achieved that feat at Kansas Speedway this week. Reddick, who drives a Toyota Camry for 23XI Racing, became the first driver to win the first three races in a row at the beginning of the season, and is currently leading the points standings after a worst finish of just 15th so far this year. But the two-time Xfinity Series champion doesn’t limit his Toyota partnership to the track, with the Japanese giant’s US division revealing Reddick has one of the brand’s cult classics in his garage – a 1993 Toyota Supra MkIV. Also known as the ‘A80’ Supra, the two-door coupe was built between 1993 and 2002, though production for North American markets ended in 1998. Powered by a 3.0-litre straight-six engine best known as the ‘2JZ’, the Supra was available as naturally aspirated or twin-turbo, with Reddick’s example being the latter. While the Supra has soared in popularity thanks to its appearance in the first ‘The Fast and the Furious’ film back in 2001, the car owned by Reddick appears to be far more understated than the movie car. Riding on Enkei wheels with uprated brakes behind them, it’s unclear what additional modifications – if any – have been made to the Supra, though finding an example which has been left in as close to original condition as this is rare. Reddick still has a way to go to reach the car collection status of team owner Michael Jordan, with the six-time NBA Championship winner owning classics including slant-nose Porsche 930 Turbos and C4 Chevrolet Corvettes. OTR 2 brings axel-grinding offroad racing action to iOS and Android next month - OTR 2 brings the sequel to the hit off-road racer to mobile next month - It features a massive new open world, not to mention air and seaborne vehicles - Jump behind the wheel with friends in a visually dazzling new racing sim Now I'm not a driver, partially due to the expense of running a car nowadays, partially due to the non-zero chance of having a seizure while behind the wheel. But I'm fairly certain we can all agree that there's a thrilling kind of fun about driving off-road! The axel-smashing, engine destroying, body-denting action is something a rare few of us get to enjoy in our daily lives or work. But now you can live out that dream in Off the Road 2 as the hit off-road racing sim brings its bigger, better and even more brutal sequel to mobile next month. Off the Road 2 offers you an entire open world to explore, behind the wheel of all manner of off-road vehicles. You've got your familiar ground-based 4x4s, but OTR 2 also lets you take to the sea in speedboats or the skies in fighter jets! Anything, it would seem, goes on the road. Pedal to the metal For fans of the original OTR, the sequel has everything they enjoyed from the original, and more. Expect realistic day/night cycles and weather simulations, a huge open world to explore and multiplayer to bring your friends into the chaos.Add onto that some truly gorgeous visuals being promised, and I think it's safe to say that if you're a vehicle enthusiastic then OTR 2 is definitely something to put on your 'to-do' list this coming May! Especially if just putting wheel to mud isn't enough for

Video Game Throwback: Growing Up Gran Turismo Part 5 - GT PSP After the release of Gran Turismo 4, there was a bit of a lull in the Polyphony Digital sim-racing universe. The fourth instalment of the franchise was released in 2004, and there wouldn’t be another proper game until 2010. During this time period, two stopgap games did appear. The first was Gran Turismo 5: Prologue in 2007, which was nothing more than a glorified demo, intended to hold fans over until the full game was available (which would take another three years). The other was Gran Turismo for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld gaming system. It Has the Meat Probably the most forgotten member of the Gran Turismo family, it was released in the fall of 2009. Surprisingly, this handheld game had over 800 cars stuffed onto its mini-disc. Many of the cars were nothing more than variations on a theme, and once again the game was overcrowded with Skylines, S2000s, Silvias, and Civics. Still, the sheer number of manufacturers and cars was impressive. Surprisingly, for a handheld spin-off, new manufacturers were introduced with this title. Gran Turismo for the PSP was the very first time Ferrari, Bugatti, and Lamborghini could be driven in the world of Gran Turismo. The game even had a free DLC pack with several cars players could immediately use once downloaded. Acquiring the rest of the cars wasn’t so easy, especially if there was a specific vehicle a player was looking for. There was no manufacturer screen to buy cars. The only way to buy cars was through the dealership that offered random groupings of manufacturers with a selection of cars for sale. Every two days in-game (basically two races or two challenges), the dealership would have new cars available to purchase. And
