NASCAR star Rajah Caruth gets hero's welcome in Barrouallie

The community of Barrouallie erupted in celebration as they welcomed home professional NASCAR driver Rajah Caruth. The event, organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the SVG Tourism Authority, honored Caruth’s international success and his deep ancestral roots in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Area Representative Honorable Conroy Huggins described the homecoming as an “exciting time” and a landmark moment for the constituency. He noted that Caruth’s mother, Samantha Kirby, hails from Barrouallie, while his father, Rajah, is from Stubs. Huggins emphasized that Caruth, who began racing at age four inspired by a movie, serves as a beacon of hope for local youth. “He is an inspiration… he’s breaking barriers because he is, I think, the third black person to have done what he is doing now,” Huggins stated. He further explained that this collaboration aligns with the administration’s focus on the “orange economy,” which leverages youth, sports, and creative industries to inspire future generations. Dr. Kishore Shallow, Minister of Tourism, highlighted the strategic importance of Caruth’s visit, noting that the NASCAR platform reaches over 28.3 million viewers in the United States alone. Shallow referred to Caruth as a premier ambassador, using his platform to showcase St. Vincent and the Grenadines to the world. “We are driving what we’re doing is showcasing St. Vincent and the Grenadines to the rest of the world using different vehicles,” Shallow explained, citing recent successes with events like Vincy Mas and CPL cricket. He expressed a commitment to sports tourism, aiming to host world-class athletes and events to stimulate the local economy. Shallow also shared a personal note, revealing that even his eight-year-old son insisted on attending to celebrate with the racing star. Shafia London, CEO of the SVG Tourism Authority, officially welcomed the “son of the soil” and encouraged him to immerse himself

Fraser to co-drive with PremiAir boss in enduro event

The duo are set to share a Hyundai Excel in a budget endurance event titled the Great Sandown Showdown. Trans Am racer Elliot Barbour and Xiberras’ son Christopher are also among the line-up in what is styled as a social and fun-filled affair. It’s all part of Xiberras’ desire to experience another side of the sport after parking his championship winning Top Fuel drag racing team. Xiberras contested a similar enduro at Sydney Motorsport Park last month, departing the Townsville 500 mid-weekend to do so. “I had an absolute ball,” Xiberras told Speedcafe of the Sydney outing. “You keep hearing stories that Sandown won’t be around forever, so it’ll be a great opportunity to experience that circuit.” While swapping an 11,000 horsepower drag car for an Excel might seem an unusual move, it’s a low-key way to gain more circuit experience. Xiberras has one of the biggest collections of Australian touring car and V8 Supercars machinery, which he occasionally drives at historic events. “It’s got nothing to do with the speed, it’s about having some fun and the camaraderie between mates,” he said of racing the Excel. “One thing I’ve learnt with circuit racing is sometimes you do more learning in the slow cars than you do the fast ones. “My ultimate goal is just to be confident enough where I can take some of my more expensive cars out and enjoy them. “This is all part of enjoying the sport.” Xiberras noted Sandown is also a chance to bond with Fraser, whose future at the team has been the subject of great speculation in recent months. Fraser said he’s looking forward to the opportunity to share a car with his boss before the Supercars Championship resumes at Queensland Raceway. “I’m excited to be teaming up with Pete, Chris and

Lucra Partners with Shift Arcade to Power Network-Wide Prize Competition Across ShiftOS ...

NEW YORK, NY, August 13, 2026 (EZ Newswire) -- Lucra, the leading social competition platform, today announced a partnership with Shift Arcade, the first dedicated sim racing franchise in the United States, to bring skill-based prize competition to racers across its entire network. Shift Arcade is adding the capability into ShiftOS, the software platform that runs every one of its locations, and putting it to work in Apex Club, its competitive racing membership. Apex Club members will compete in free-to-play challenges for prizes and, where eligible, paid-entry challenges with real prize pools, ranked against every other Shift Arcade in the country. Shift Arcade delivers two products to a franchise. ShiftOS runs the whole venue on one system, covering bookings, kiosk check-in, memberships, race control, and leaderboards. Apex Club is the competitive programming that runs on top of it, with monthly Hot Lap and Formula Challenges, leagues, standings, and the Shift Championship shared across every location. The Lucra integration is a capability inside ShiftOS and new content for Apex Club members. A monthly Hot Lap Challenge runs the same car on the same track at every Shift Arcade simultaneously, so a single leaderboard covers every simulator on the network. Racers enter free-to-play for prizes or, where eligible, pay to enter a challenge with a prize pool behind it. Lucra handles identity verification, payments, compliance, fraud prevention, and settlement automatically through its plug-and-play SDK, so no individual location administers any of it and new franchise locations can immediately tap into Lucra’s competitive loyalty engine. "A lap time is a lap time. Same car, same track, same conditions, so it doesn't matter which building you set it in," said Dylan Robbins, Founder and CEO of Lucra. "Racers already compare times obsessively. That's the beauty of the sport. Because Shift Arcade runs every location

SCS Software Confirms North Dakota for American Truck Simulator

- Primary Subject: American Truck Simulator (North Dakota Downloadable Content Expansion) - Key Update: SCS Software has officially announced the North Dakota downloadable content expansion, bringing major cities, agricultural and energy industries, and iconic roadside landmarks to the simulation. - Status: Confirmed - Last Verified: August 13, 2026 - Quick Answer: SCS Software officially announced the North Dakota expansion for American Truck Simulator with a dedicated Steam store page, though no release date is set. SCS Software has officially announced North Dakota as an upcoming map expansion for American Truck Simulator, revealing the state through a blog post, a trailer, and a live Steam store page on August 2, 2026. The reveal followed a teaser posted on July 22, in which the studio dangled a deliberately vague clue about wide open spaces and prairie winds, along with an image of a catfish. That catfish turned out to be Wahpper, the 40-foot sculpture in Wahpeton billed as the world's largest catfish, and the community solved it well before the confirmation landed. The announcement is a full reveal rather than a passing roadmap mention. There is a named DLC, work-in-progress screenshots, a trailer on the SCS YouTube channel, and a Steam page already open for wishlisting under app ID 4400790. What there isn't is a release date. What the North Dakota DLC Includes SCS has been unusually forthcoming about locations for a first look. The blog and Steam listing include Fargo, capital city Bismarck, Grand Forks, Minot, and Williston, alongside smaller communities such as Pembina, Wahpeton, Medora, and the Devils Lake region. Medora sits at the gateway to Theodore Roosevelt National Park, which suggests the western Badlands will get real attention rather than serving as background terrain. Interstate 94 and Interstate 29 form the backbone of the road network, running east to

Does Sim Racing Teach You to Drive Differently? Sim-to-Real Explained

Sim racing can transfer useful skills to a real racing car. Max Verstappen and Chris Lulham provide recent examples, while motorsport simulator research shows that drivers adapt their control strategies to the cues available in a virtual environment. What public evidence cannot yet tell us is whether the fastest technique in iRacing, Le Mans Ultimate, Assetto Corsa Competizione or Assetto Corsa EVO matches the technique used in the corresponding real car. There is good support for the transfer of circuit knowledge, setup understanding and aspects of driving technique. There is also strong reason to expect differences. A static home simulator removes much of the physical information available inside a racing car, particularly sustained acceleration and G-forces. The unanswered question is more specific: When a driver becomes fast in a simulator, what control strategy has that simulator taught them to use? Driving behaviour can be measured, not just described A 2020 study from Graz University of Technology examined behavioural validity in motorsport Driver-in-the-Loop simulation by comparing professional racing drivers on a real circuit and in a simulator. The researchers used metrics derived from track and simulator data to quantify the distance between the driver’s behaviour in both environments. Absolute behavioural validity ranged from 40.47% to 59.29% across the drivers and simulator configurations tested. Activating the simulator’s motion system shifted behaviour by between 1.29% and 3.31% towards the characteristics measured on track. Those percentages are measures produced by that specific methodology. They are not a percentage score for how “realistic” the simulator was. The useful finding is that driver behaviour changed with simulator configuration and that change could be quantified. A 2026 study shows how drivers adapt to simulator cues Further research published in Automotive Innovation in February 2026 examined motion cueing using amateur participants and two professional racing drivers in a

CSM Transitions to Aston Martin; Adds Ellahi, Houk to No. 3 Entry | IMSA

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Czabok-Simpson Motorsport (CSM) will transition its two IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Grand Sport (GS) entries from Porsche 718 GT4 RS CS cars to Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVOs, starting with the Virginia Is For Racing Lovers Grand Prix at Virginia International Raceway next week. Additionally, the team brings back its No. 3 entry for the final three races with the new pairing of Ismaeel Ellahi and Ayrton Houk. CSM regulars Gordon Scully and Morgan Burkhard will continue together in the team’s No. 2 GS entry, giving CSM two Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO cars for the balance of the championship. The manufacturer transition is a strategic move ahead of the 2027 season. The switch should allow the team to accelerate its technical development program across two cars while continuing to pursue results in the final three rounds. Scully and Burkhard enter VIR ninth in the 2026 Michelin Pilot Challenge GS championship standings. Their season includes a runner-up finish at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and the continuity of the No. 2 pairing will provide an important benchmark as CSM introduces the Aston Martin to its Michelin Pilot Challenge operation. “Moving both cars to the Aston Martin now is an important step in our preparation for 2027,” said CSM co-owner Stephen Simpson. “It gives our engineers and drivers three race weekends to build a meaningful base of knowledge in Michelin Pilot Challenge conditions.” Ellahi has run a partial season in IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge with CSM, where he scored his first win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Grand Sport X (GSX) in its first weekend with the new Aston Martin. The 19-year-old American-Pakistani driver from Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, began sim racing only two years ago and made his first transition into car racing

BeamNG.drive studio teases European-style truck

European-style cab-over-engine truck teased for BeamNG.drive New image drops soon after the game’s huge V0.39 update Fresh off the back of perhaps its biggest-ever update, the team behindBeamNG.drive has teased another new vehicle set to join the sandbox driving sim. An image on social media shows the West Coast USA map with the unmistakable rear end of a cab-over-engine truck poking out in the foreground on the right, its fifth-wheel coupling coquetteishly positioned. Although the game already has a few truck options, notably the Gavril T-Series, its existing examples are in the traditional North American style, featuring long bonnets. A new European option is therefore most welcome, especially given the popularity of SCS Software’s Euro Truck Simulator 2. BeamNG’s recent V0.39 update overhauled the game’s graphics (including tech from Gran Turismo 7 creator Polyphony Digital), added a feature-rich photo mode and implemented a tweaked rally mode, with the studio fine-tuning the game’s UI and performance ahead of its imminent PlayStation 5 release later this year. CSM Switches to Aston Martin for Rest of GS Season; New Drivers

Czabok-Simpson Motorsport has made the switch from Porsche to Aston Martin GT4 machinery for the remainder of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season, while adding a second GS class entry in the process. The Indianapolis-based team, which has long been affiliated with running Porsches, will field two Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evos beginning with next weekend’s round at Virginia International Raceway. While Gordon Scully and Morgan Burkhard will remain together in the No. 2 entry, Ayrton Houk as Ismaeel Ellahi will team up in the No. 3 Aston Martin for a three-race Pilot Challenge program. The shift to the British manufacturer is being billed as a “strategic move” according to a team statement, in order to get a jump start on the 2027 season. Sportscar365 understands CSM acquired one of Rebel Rock Racing’s Astons that it previously ran in the series. “Moving both cars to the Aston Martin now is an important step in our preparation for 2027,” said team co-owner Stephen Simpson. “It gives our engineers and drivers three race weekends to build a meaningful base of knowledge in Michelin Pilot Challenge conditions. “Ayrton has already tested with us several times and has consistently impressed the team with his pace, feedback and approach. “Ismaeel’s development in such a short period has been exceptional, and his CTMP victory showed that he is ready for this next challenge. “Gordon and Morgan give us the experience and continuity we need, so we believe these lineups create a very strong foundation for the rest of this season and for 2027.” Houk, 23, is additionally confirmed to also contest the Pirelli GT4 America season-ending rounds at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with CSM, with his co-driver yet to be announced. “The testing I have done with CSM gave me a real appreciation for how the team

Next Level Racing's latest racing sim is a rigid foldable frame built for 13Nm direct drive wheels

Anyone who has spent time in sim racing understands the inevitable friction that comes with desk-clamped hardware. Entry-level gear-driven wheels might get away with temporary desk mounts, but upgrading to modern direct drive wheelbases changes the structural requirements completely. High-torque wheelbases twist lightweight desks, while load cell brake pedals easily push rolling office chairs backward, ruining driver consistency and lap times. Upgrading to a full aluminium extrusion rig eliminates flex, but it introduces a major footprint requirement and a significant financial outlay that many Australian enthusiasts struggle to justify. Gold Coast simulation hardware brand Next Level Racing is directly targeting this gap with two new Official FIA Licensed cockpits: the RC Essential Simulator Cockpit (RC E) and the RC Foldable Simulator Cockpit (RC F). Both models are engineered to handle direct drive wheelbases delivering up to 13Nm of torque and carry an Australian retail price of A$549. Engineering rigidity for high-torque direct drive wheelbases Structural rigidity is the primary metric by which any sim racing rig must be judged. When applying heavy pressure to a load cell pedal or reacting to high-frequency force feedback from a direct drive wheel, frame flex absorbs energy that should be transferring to the driver. The RC Essential is constructed around a reinforced steel frame designed with reinforced connection points to eliminate unwanted movement under heavy braking and aggressive steering inputs. Positioned as a dedicated step up from wheel stands and temporary mounts, the rig provides a stable platform for drivers looking to build a permanent sim setup on a reasonable budget. Rather than supplying a basic mesh sling or requiring drivers to source a separate seat, the RC Essential comes equipped with a dedicated GT-style racing seat. The seat features cold-moulded foam padding wrapped in synthetic suede and breathable SIMAERO Mesh to support longer

RENNSPORT Has Almost No Steam Players. So Who Is Still Funding It?

RENNSPORT is still running cash-prize esports, developing new content, operating across PC and consoles and now self-publishing on every platform. Meanwhile, its visible Steam audience is remarkably small. The €10,000 R1 prize pool is not really the mystery. Everything around it is. RENNSPORT is in an unusual position. At the time of writing, SteamDB showed RENNSPORT with just 20 concurrent players, a 24-hour peak of 25 and an all-time Steam peak of only 306. At the same time, RENNSPORT has started another season of R1, its flagship esports championship, culminating in an in-person final at SimRacing Expo with a €10,000 prize pool split across 12 teams. That leaves one obvious question: who is still paying for all of this? The €10,000 is not the strange part Ten thousand euros is not an extraordinary amount of money in the marketing budget of a commercial video game. On its own, it tells us very little. RENNSPORT also comes from an era when the numbers involved in its esports programme were dramatically larger. When ESL R1 launched in 2023, ESL FACEIT Group officially announced a collective €500,000 prize pool across that year’s two seasons. RENNSPORT’s tournament at the 2025 Esports World Cup carried a $500,000 prize pool. Those figures should not be interpreted as Competition Company personally writing a €500,000 or $500,000 cheque. Those competitions were part of much larger externally backed esports operations. R1 in 2026 is different. The current series sits directly inside the RENNSPORT ecosystem and its prize fund has fallen to €10,000. That is dramatically less money, but it arrives while the sim’s publicly visible Steam audience remains exceptionally small. The prize fund is therefore interesting, even if it is probably one of the cheapest parts of the operation. Running RENNSPORT costs more than €10,000 RENNSPORT is more than

Sim Racing Has Become Worth Watching

Some hobbies are more interesting once other people become very good at them. Sim racing has reached that point. The best drivers now give you a reason to watch rather than race, and once a championship earns your attention, all sorts of other sporting habits start to follow with it. Sim racing has become much easier to watch as a sport in its own right. Big championships now have proper seasons and live events, with drivers worth following from one race to the next. That gives you a reason to watch even when you have no intention of climbing into the rig yourself. The interesting part is what comes with that audience once virtual racing starts competing for the same attention as conventional motorsport. Eight Million Viewers Changes the Conversation Gran Turismo 7 gives us a useful idea of the numbers involved. World Series events have been credited with roughly 8 million cumulative viewers per event, although that figure needs some care because cumulative viewing is different from having 8 million people watching at once. Even with that caveat, the number tells us something useful. Sim racing now attracts an audience large enough for viewing figures themselves to become part of the conversation. Fans can follow championships, pick drivers they want to see do well and turn up for major events without owning a wheel or having any interest in competing. That is a fairly normal way to consume conventional motorsport, and sim racing is increasingly giving spectators the same option. Six Thousand Drivers From 159 Countries Is Quite a Grid The competitive base is international too. More than 6,000 drivers from 159 countries registered for the first FIA Esports Global Rally Tour, giving the governing body a very large pool of competitors before the series had even reached its

Asetek Racing joins SimRacing Expo line-up

Asetek Racing joins SimRacing Expo Frankfurt exhibitor list Firm plans expansion after huge recent takeover deal Danish hardware manufacturer Asetek Racing has confirmed it will be attending this year’s SimRacing Expo Frankfurt. The firm, which was recently acquired by Suzhou Chunqiu Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. in a deal worth around $82M, is still led by enigmatic founder André Eriksen and plans to expand its future sim racing lineup. Part of this is the growth of its entry-level Initium range and console compatibility, with the upcoming Initium DD10 Wheelbase featuring Xbox compatibility; a first for the brand. The new wheelbase is set for a Q4 2026 release window, so it is expected to be on display at the Messe Frankfurt for the show’s duration between the16th and 18th October. This year’s Expo will also feature a live stage element, which is set to feature guest speakers, and will also showcase the live in-person final of Rennsport’s R1 esports competition, where top sim racing teams battle it out for a share of a €10,000 prize pool. Asetek Initium vs Fanatec CSL DD vs Logitech RS50 vs MOZA R5

The entry-level Direct Drive market is far more competitive than it was a few years ago. Fanatec and MOZA no longer dominate the conversation on their own. Asetek has pushed its Initium range into mainstream pricing, while Logitech is targeting the same buyers with the 8 Nm RS50. For anyone upgrading from a Logitech G29/G923, Thrustmaster T300 or similar gear- or belt-driven hardware, the question is no longer whether Direct Drive is affordable. The real question is which ecosystem gives you the best value now and still makes sense after your first upgrade. The four products that matter most in this comparison are: All four sit somewhere in the entry-level Direct Drive category, but they approach price, upgradeability and platform support very differently. On current pricing, Fanatec offers the strongest pure value. MOZA remains one of the simplest all-in-one purchases, while Logitech has an unusually aggressive 8 Nm base price but becomes expensive as a full system. Asetek takes a different route. Its biggest strength is how much of the original hardware can remain in place as the rig improves. Current prices at a glance There is one important pricing detail before comparing the four systems. Asetek currently displays its European prices excluding VAT, while Fanatec, Logitech and MOZA’s EU storefronts display consumer pricing including VAT. That means Asetek’s listed figures need to be adjusted for your country’s VAT rate before making a direct comparison. | Product | Torque | Current price | Wheel | Pedals | Desk clamp | Platform | |---|---|---|---|---|---|---| | Asetek Initium Wheelbase | 5.5 Nm | €293.28 excl. VAT | No | No | Yes | PC | | Asetek Initium Racing Bundle | 5.5 Nm | €503.36 excl. VAT | Yes | Yes | Yes | PC | | Asetek Initium + Boost Kit

How stages are created for Assetto Corsa Rally and why they are laser-scanned | Traxion

There are the gorgeous Unreal Engine 5-powered graphics – a game engine that Supernova Games Studios has heavily customised, using the ‘Dark Matter’ internal code name – combined with accurate laser-scanned routes, matching real-world tracks with exacting detail. Sure, other areas of the rally sim in this early access phase need work. There are constant changes to throttle maps, suspension response and tyre models, alongside the roll-out of online multiplayer features, upcoming single-player modes and virtual reality. More cars wouldn’t go amiss either. But the stages. It’s hard to argue with their detail, realism and visual fidelity. However, if there was one complaint about the routes, it’s that because they are so detailed, could it take too long to add more into the title? Is the laser-scanning process simply too detailed and labour-intensive? “I’d like to point out that, while laser scanning is certainly expensive in itself, this technique actually gives us major advantages both in terms of quality and production time,” he enthusiastically explains to Traxion. “I’ve read comments from people who believe that creating stages manually in an empty environment would allow us to produce more of them. “Having experienced both approaches during my 21 years as a developer, I can confirm that this is not the case.” For the initiated, Zonca has previously worked on Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo and Gravel, plus at least 40 other racing games, including official World Rally Championship and MotoGP titles. “Having a laser-scan foundation, provided by an external company, gives us an accurate real-world template that we can immediately start working on. “Without it, we would first have to manually create the route, verify it, and iterate on it multiple times. On top of that, we would still not be able to achieve the level of visual fidelity and road-surface accuracy
