RaceRoom has confirmed when sim racers can expect its next platform update and car content: 4th August 2026. It follows a wave of announcements in recent days, with new DTM (GT3-spec) cars, an all new HUD and notable multiplayer improvements. There are also track upgrades for Monza and the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Four new GT3 cars Thanks to a new DTM 2026-season DLC pack, which includes the current season livery designs and all cars apart from the Ferrari 296, the following four fresh cars will be available: Aston Martin GT3 Evo Ford Mustang GT3 Evo Lamborghini Temerario GT3 Porsche 911 GT3 R (2026 update) This marks the first time the Mustang is available for the platform, and it arrives in current Evo spec. Meanwhile, the Aston Martin marks the first time the British brand has ever appeared in RaceRoom. Then there’s the Temerario, marking its sim racing debut, anywhere, in the KW Studios-created title. A lot of ‘marks’ and ‘firsts’ there, but it’s important. The DTM 2026 pack that includes the four cars and liveries will cost €29.99. New HUD The on-screen information during races has been re-designed, something that is now closer to the fresher designs seen in the multiplayer user interface, for example. Current positions, timing and maps are said to be clearer, and the whole display can be customised. The location and size for each element can be changed, and you can switch on or off sections as you please. The MFD is also updated to match, with tyre info, session-aware standings, timing, a full instrument cluster, a status strip for penalties and messages and a dedicated chat/system message log. Expanded multiplayer grids Now, in the future, RaceRoom is hinting at even more online dedicated server multiplayer changes, but for now it’s been tinkering under the hood, and

- Primary Subject: Need for Speed / Forza Horizon (Automotive Licensing Analysis) - Key Update: An analysis of why major car manufacturers like Honda and Toyota historically avoided street racing video games and how licensing policies have shifted over time. - Status: Confirmed - Last Verified: July 30, 2026 - Quick Answer: Automakers avoid street racing games due to concerns over illegal themes, police chases, and car damage models, though Toyota eventually returned to sim racers. I have spent a stupid number of hours outrunning cops in cars I will never afford, and for most of that time I never questioned the garage. You take what the game gives you. It was only when I went hunting for one specific car and could not find it anywhere in the list that I started paying attention to the gaps. A racing game's roster gets settled in a licensing meeting long before it reaches the design team, and the two most famous holes in that roster belong to Honda and Toyota. The Honda Gap Is Real, But Not the Way Fans Tell It If you grew up on the Need for Speed tuner era, you remember the moment you realized there was no Civic to build. That absence hardened into folklore over the years: Honda hates street racing games and always has. The actual record is messier. Honda and Acura have appeared across the series for decades, just unevenly. The NA1 Acura NSX was in the original The Need for Speed back in 1994, disappeared, then came back as the NA2 in ProStreet in 2007. The second-generation NSX turned up in Payback in 2017. When EA rebooted the franchise as plain Need for Speed in 2015, Honda arrived in force, with the Civic and the NSX both drivable in a game built

Triple screens and reworked GT cars arrive in Project Motor Racing Project Motor Racing has received one of its biggest patches yet, with Update 2.1 delivering a major overhaul for several popular racing classes, new multiplayer features and a long-awaited display option for serious sim-racing setups. Rather than simply adjusting a few numbers under the bonnet, the update makes substantial changes to how many of the game’s most important cars feel on the track. The headline improvements focus on the GT3 and GT4 categories. Every car in these classes has been updated with revised suspension geometry, aerodynamics, differentials, gear ratios, turbo response, weight distribution and braking behaviour. The tyre simulation has also been reworked, making temperature management, sliding and long-term wear much more important during a race. Drivers who push too aggressively could now overheat their tyres and lose performance much faster, while smoother racers may be able to stretch their stints. Adjustable brake ducts introduce another strategic choice, improving cooling when opened but creating additional aerodynamic drag. Old GT3 and GT4 setups may no longer behave correctly after the overhaul, although the update includes refreshed default configurations for several circuits. More online racing and triple-screen action Update 2.1 also improves multiplayer by allowing racers to join active Practice and Qualifying sessions in supported custom lobbies. Hosts can skip Practice, ranked competitors receive notifications when their races are starting, and several connection and lobby-restriction issues have been fixed. One of the most exciting additions for dedicated sim racers is PC triple-screen support. The feature is currently labelled as an early Alpha implementation, meaning it may still have rough edges, but it gives players with three-monitor cockpits a much better way to experience the game. VR remains in Alpha as well, with the patch fixing positioning, interface and custom-lobby problems. The

If you thought your sim racing rig was complete, MOZA is here to tell you that your wallet is not safe. The simulation giant has officially dropped one of its biggest product announcements to date, spanning racing, aviation, heavy machinery, and full-cockpit motion hardware. Leading the charge is the MOZA HMA150 Haptic Motion System, a four-actuator setup that brings full 3DOF motion to your seat. Alongside it, MOZA has refreshed its direct drive racing line, expanded its force feedback flight gear, launched a dedicated farming controller, and rolled out AI software that physically guides your hands around a racetrack. Here is everything you need to know about MOZA’s massive hardware explosion and what it will cost you here in Australia. Shake, rattle, and roll with the MOZA HMA150 For years, getting a true motion rig involved buying expensive industrial actuators and routing miles of messy cabling to giant external control boxes. The MOZA HMA150 changes that by embedding the controller logic directly into each actuator body. Built around four individual HMA150 Haptic Motion Actuators, the system translates telemetry data into pitch, roll, and heave. You will feel every heavy braking dive, weight transfer through high-speed sweepers, elevation change, and violent curb strike directly through your seat. The technical specifications on these struts are no joke. They offer 150 mm of total travel, top speeds of up to 300 mm/s, and acceleration forces exceeding 1G under supported load conditions. If you happen to be a heavier driver or have a heavy steel rig, the system supports a maximum platform payload of 350 kg. High-frequency tactile vibration effects can also rumble up to 200 Hz to simulate engine revs and road surface textures. To prevent you from slamming into the floor when turning the rig off, MOZA has included controlled descent protection

NEWS Getting to Know: Mirko Bortolotti Few names go as hand-in-hand at the top of the GT racing world over the past decade and longer quite as much as Lamborghini and Mirko Bortolotti. The Italian has contributed to some of the most important successes for the Sant’Agata Bolognese brand since his arrival in 2014. Hailing from Trento in the north of Italy, Bortolotti soon turned heads in go-karting before making the step up to formula cars, eventually winning the Italian Formula 3 championship and FIA Formula Two title in quick succession. For a while, it looked like Formula One was on the cards, with a number of tests for the likes of Ferrari, Red Bull Racing and Williams. But GTs presented Bortolotti with a firmer career option, and Lamborghini was the natural destination. Since making the switch away from single seaters, Bortolotti has gone on to become one of the fastest and prominent drivers in GT racing. He has won the Daytona 24 Hours and Sebring 12 Hours twice in class, the Petit Le Mans, GT World Challenge overall and Endurance Cup, the DTM title and played a pivotal role in Lamborghini’s SC63 project, scoring a point at the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours. An enviable CV in many drivers’ eyes, Bortolotti is not content with living in the past. His quest for even more success is unstoppable. How did you get into motorsport when you were young? When did you catch the racing bug? “Quite young, actually. I went into karting at the age of five and it was something that started off as a hobby at first, but which obviously became more than just that and eventually ended up in a professional job. I didn't have big financial backing behind or big family money, so everything I managed

There will be St. Petersburg, Chicagoland and Naval Base Coronado venues to boot. This season Chase format, too. Kyle Larson adorns the (virtual) cover. We also know that NASCAR 26 is a yearly motorsport game release, created once again by iRacing Studios. Obviously. Now, in a gargantuan (I’m joking) 57-second gameplay trailer, some words flashed on the screen with further new additions. The pre-order pages on digital stores also went live and provided a little extra colour. So, here are 18 small (in bold) features recently discovered. Overhauled Driving Physics In iRacing Studio’s own words, the driving physics are ‘overhauled’ for this year. In fact, the blurb goes even further than that, proclaiming that they are “Driving Physics 2.0”. 2.0. That’s a bold call. This is apparently justified thanks to new tyre and braking models. And that’s it. That’s all we know. They are called Driving Physics 2.0 and things are new. Let’s see how it plays in September. Training, Spotter and AI use A new mode this time around: a one-on-one training mode presented and voiced by Crew Chief Steve Letarte, and Daytona 500 champion Jamie McMurray will be present. A brief snippet was shown in today’s trailer, but we’re keen to see how in-depth it goes. There will also be a spotter voiced by Freddie Kraft. The game’s Steam page carried the AI-generated content disclosure, citing that “NASCAR 26 used AI to generate certain VO lines and other presentation elements throughout the UI.” Visuals Based on this brief trailer and associated screenshots, it’s true that the game does look enhanced, with richer lighting effects especially, compared to last year’s instalment. There still seems to be that Vaseline-style blurriness during exterior camera angles, however. iRacing Studios is clearly very proud of the extra fidelity, going so far as saying

IndyCar has unveiled the first official concept renders of the IR-28, the next-generation car set to debut in the 2028 season, signaling the end of the long-standing DW12 era that began in 2012. Alongside technical details, the series highlighted a bold new objective: engineering the machine to smash iconic track records, including Arie Luyendyk’s historic 1996 pole-position performance at the Indianapolis 500. The series emphasized that while the IR-28 retains IndyCar’s signature identity, it features a sleeker, more modern design. Key improvements include redesigned front and rear wings optimized for aesthetic appeal and aerodynamic efficiency across diverse circuit layouts, as well as a weight reduction of approximately 100 lbs (45 kg) and improved overall aerodynamic balance—crafted to enhance wheel-to-wheel racing and push performance thresholds. Under the hood, the IR-28 will feature a 2.4-liter twin-turbo V6 power plant capable of delivering greater torque, horsepower, and track performance than the current specification. The internal combustion engine alone is targeted to generate around 760 hp, excluding additional boost provided by an upgraded hybrid unit featuring greater energy storage capacity and expanded deployment options. While hybrid and engine parameters had been previously teased, IndyCar’s release provided deeper clarity and formally declared an ambitious goal: breaking Luyendyk’s legendary 1996 qualifying marks, an objective directly referenced in the IR-28 official announcement. During that historic 1996 qualifying run, the Dutch driver set the fastest single lap and four-lap average speed in Indy 500 history. Luyendyk posted a blisteringly fast single-lap time of 37.895 seconds (237.498 mph / 382.216 km/h) and completed his four-lap qualifying attempt in 2:31.908, averaging 236.986 mph (381.392 km/h). For context, Álex Palou secured pole position this year with a four-lap run of 2:35.006, averaging 2:32.218 mph (373.7 km/h). If IndyCar achieves its performance targets with the IR-28, four-lap qualifying average speeds will jump

In tandem with the news that it is partnering with Gran Turismo to bring its range of racing sim equipment to PS5 users, Moza Racing has also introduced a range of new hardware, marking an expansion into full motion rigs, farming, and flight simulation. The headliner of the new gear is undoubtedly the Moza HMA150 Haptic Motion System, a four-actuator motion rig that system provides 150mm of travel, speeds up to 300mm/s, and acceleration exceeding 1G under supported loads, allowing the cockpit to reproduce physical effects such as pitch, roll, and heave. The company says the HMA150 combines "large platform movements with detailed high-frequency feedback" and uses in-house developed servo motors, control algorithms, structural engineering and software. The system is managed through new software called AI Motion, which can analyse in-game visuals and audio in real-time to generate haptic effects even when native game telemetry is unavailable. In tandem with the HMA150 motion rig, Moza also introduced two new wheel bases to its ecosystem: the R16 Ultra Direct Drive Wheel Base and an updated R5 Pro bundle. The R16 base delivers 16Nm of torque and uses a flat-wire motor architecture and a 21-bit magnetic encoder for capturing steering input. Powered by a 600MHz processor and Moza’s NexGen FFB Algorithm 4.0, the R16 Ultra processes vehicle data with low latency and reproduces finer force feedback detail. A new force feedback interpolation algorithm has also been introduced that Moza says "intelligently smooths transitions between adjacent signals, eliminating graininess,

How the Need for Speed by race fans is rewriting the rules of Digital Entertainment There’s something quite human that completely explains why so many massive gearhead race fans naturally drift toward intensely realistic sim racing, brutal fantasy leagues, or logging into a live casino on a day off. But this relentless demand for speed isn’t just a quirky habit exclusive to car enthusiasts. The massive leaps we’ve recently seen in cloud computing and mobile connectivity have permanently rewired what all consumers expect, meaning that if a digital platform isn’t instantly responsive and highly dynamic, today’s audiences will simply close the tab and find a better alternative. The Absolute Necessity of Real-Time Data There is arguably no other sport on the planet that generates as much raw, chaotic data as modern motor racing. Within a single flying lap, you are looking at microscopic sector time comparisons, aggressive fuel saving calculations, sudden weather radar shifts, and live telemetry that essentially explains the exact physics of what the car is doing in real-time. We used to just have to wait for the television commentators to interpret the strategy for us, but now, fans are basically acting as armchair race engineers, using official timing apps and live mobile dashboards to track the exact millimeter gap between two drivers from the comfort of their couch. That relentless demand for instant information has completely shifted our baseline expectations for literally everything else on the internet. Because we are so used to seeing a driver’s lap time update the absolute millisecond they cross the start-finish line, we now expect our travel updates, stock market trackers, and live streaming apps to deliver that exact same zero-latency experience. Pulling this off requires an absurd amount of hidden infrastructure, heavily relying on massive cloud networks to instantly process and

Ian Bell’s departure as Chief Executive Officer of Straight4 Studios cannot be understood as a routine corporate reshuffle. In the context of Project Motor Racing, it marks the end of a period defined by extraordinary technological ambition, frequently grandiose communication, and a launch that exposed serious weaknesses in management, quality assurance, and community relations. Kevin Boland, previously the studio’s Chief Development Officer, now takes over as CEO with an especially difficult task: stabilising a weakened company, rebuilding player confidence, and transforming a technically promising simulator into a coherent and sustainable product. The change comes at a critical moment. Project Motor Racing launched in November 2025 under the weight of enormous expectations. Straight4 had presented it as the spiritual successor to GTR 2 and the early Project CARS titles, a simulation designed to restore the depth and authenticity that many players believed had been lost elsewhere in the genre. The initial result fell far short of that promise. Performance issues, inconsistent physics, poor steering-wheel feedback, erratic artificial intelligence, and a generally unfinished experience led to a deeply negative reception. What was supposed to be the triumphant return of one of sim racing’s most experienced development teams instead became another example of a game released before it was ready. Bell’s departure does not erase those problems, but it does change the structure from which Straight4 will attempt to solve them. An Essential and Divisive Founder Ian Bell has been one of the most influential and controversial figures in sim racing for more than two decades. His career is connected to some of the genre’s most important titles, including GTR, GT Legends, GTR 2, Need for Speed: Shift, and the Project CARS series. Bell has always stood out for his ability to gather talent, mobilise communities, and turn seemingly unrealistic ideas into real

Giants Software has launched Update 2.1 for Project Motor Racing, introducing several major improvements, rebuilt classes, and more. At the same time, the Free Aussie Pack was released, essentially adding two new vehicles for players for free. Project Motor Racing Update 2.1 brings a complete overhaul of the GT4 and GT3 classes. The cars have been completely rebuilt with new data from manufacturers and tire simulations to improve handling, tire behavior, and that realistic, authentic feel. There have also been other improvements to collision behavior and stability, particularly in multiplayer, to make gameplay more consistent. Trueforce is also enabled on all platforms with Update 2.1. Additionally, Update 2.1 has several online quality-of-life changes. Now, players will be able to join an online session even after a race has started, making it much easier to connect with friends. Additionally, a new Ranked Notification will alert players once they’ve connected to a ranked game, instead of forcing players to stay on the registration screen and do nothing while they wait. Triple-screen support has also been added in Alpha, which has been highly requested from the community. Last but not least is the free Aussie Rivals Pack, which adds the 2013 Holden Commodore VF and a completely reworked 2013 Ford Falcon FG. Both of these modern V8 touring cars are great options for aggressive racers. Players can check out the vehicles in the Aussie Rivals Pack for Project Motor Racing in the trailer below: There are also some images from the update and new pack below: Straight4 Studios CEO Kevin Boland spoke about the new content: “Players have been putting in the laps, giving us the feedback, and pushing us to make PMR better. Ian Bell is no longer the Chief Executive Officer of Straight4 Studios, the development team he founded to create Project Motor Racing. The outfit has confirmed to Traxion that Kevin Boland, previous Chief Development Officer (CDO), has assumed the CEO role effective immediately. According to a company-issued statement, it “remains focused on supporting the Project Motor Racing community, delivering its development roadmap, and continuing to improve the player experience.” “Straight4 Studios has an incredibly committed team and a passionate community around Project Motor Racing,” said Boland. “My focus remains the same as it was when I first joined this talented studio: giving the team the clarity, structure, and support it needs day to day, while we continue improving the game, listening to players, and building for the long term. “On a personal note, I’d like to thank Ian Bell for everything he has done for Straight4 Studios and for Project Motor Racing, and for the wider impact he has had on sim racing over many years. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to carry that work forward with the team.” Ian Bell, via Straight4, was unavailable for comment. Project Motor Racing wouldn’t exist without Ian Bell. Following the sale of his former company, Slight Mad Studios, to Codemasters in 2019, that outfit was subsequently sold to Electronic Arts in 2021. Bell departed EA later that same year, which then set about cancelling every Codemasters racing game project apart from the official Formula 1 game. After a mandated non-compete clause was fulfilled, he set about creating a new studio, using his own funding in the early days, hiring many of the now-redundant Project CARS 4 creation team.
