A new update is seemingly coming soon for Assetto Corsa EVO, as Kyalami has been confirmed. Teaser images of the South African venue have been shared via formal Assetto Corsa social media channels, alongside ratification that it will be part of the Version 0.8 early access update. The former grand prix venue, last hosting Formula 1 in 1993 when Alain Prost was victorious, isn’t new for the Assetto Corsa franchise, part of the Compezione roster. Nothing else is known about what else will be part of this update or when it will be released. Given the timing of this teaser, however, it could be as early as this month, as the Version 1.0 moniker now rapidly approaches. The PV5 is proving again why it’s the ultimate people mover. Kia converted its electric van into an off-grid racing simulator rig with a massive 55″ screen. Kia PV5 turns into a mobile racing simulator Kia’s electric van already comes in many shapes and forms. At the Busan Mobility Show last week, Kia introduced three new body types, including a 7-seater, a luxury “Prime” model, and the Cargo High Roof. We also got a look at several fun new conversion models, such as an ice cream truck, a school bus, a mobile bank, and an AI patrol vehicle. In its latest form, Kia converted the PV5 Cargo into an off-grid, mobile racing simulator complete with gaming seats, a 55″ screen, custom interior, and more. Midlands-based Brindley Kia is loaning the vehicle to CX Auto Group for five weeks through its rental service (Kia Rental) for modifications. The mobile racing simulator will be used at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) to raise funds for Men And Their Emotions (M.A.T.E), a charity for men’s mental health. Leading up to the event, content creators and top racing drivers will compete to see who can complete a lap around the track the fastest. Visitors will then have a chance to see if they can top the leaderboard to win prizes and donate to M.A.T.E. The simulator rig is powered by the PV5’s vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, enabling it to serve as a large mobile power station. During initial testing, Kia said the PV5 used just 1% of its charge for every two hours that it was used for simulation. The Saleen S7-R and Lister Storm GT have already been teased before, but in the Brazilian developer’s latest X post, the Spyker C8 Spyder GT2R, TVR Tuscan T440R, Panoz Esperante GTLM, Maserati 4200GT Trofeo and Gillett Vertigo appeared in screenshots. This indicates that V1.6.9.9 of AMS 2 will essentially complete the vehicle roster of the 2005 FIA GT Championship, barring the Ferrari 550-GTS Maranello and Ferrari 575 GTC Evo. Lindblad outlines hopes and explains helmet design for ‘incredibly special’ first home race at Silverstone Arvid Lindblad will take part in his first home race as an F1 driver at this weekend’s British Grand Prix. Arvid Lindblad has opened up on how he feels ahead of his first home race in Formula 1, in which he will showcase a uniquely personal helmet design as he takes on the British Grand Prix. While the 18-year-old has competed at Silverstone throughout his junior career, he has yet to enjoy the experience of driving in front of his home crowd in F1 machinery with Racing Bulls – a team on an impressive three-race streak of both Lindblad and Liam Lawson finishing in the points. Looking ahead to the weekend on Thursday's media day, he said: “I’m extremely excited. It’s going to be a very special moment for me. I remember being here in 2013 when I was five and sitting at Maggotts and Becketts with my dad. “As I was watching the cars go past, it was when I was really learning about my love for the sport and asking him questions. Is it possible to be there one day? Could that be me? 13 years later, to be coming here as an F1 driver will be incredibly special.” To mark the progress Lindblad has made from sitting in the Silverstone grandstands as a fan to taking part behind the wheel, his helmet this weekend will feature hand-drawn designs created by British-Indian artist Navinder Nangla. The childlike sketches reference his dad’s support in his motorsport career and memorable achievements, as well as the Union flag and inspirational phrases like ‘dream big’ and ‘my path my way’. Articles The Formula Student Sim Racing Series began in 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 lockdowns as an alternative to the live event and has been growing steadily ever since. The series is open to all Formula Student teams online, combining monthly races from November in the online racing simulator Assetto Corsa with engineering challenges designed to test a team’s approach to racing strategy and analysis. The line-up this year featured 283 drivers from 73 Formula Student teams, which represent 19 countries across four continents, making this a truly global competition. “The year-on-year growth for the FS Sim Racing Series is fantastic to see,” says Dan Jones, chief judge for the Formula Student competition. “Starting from the virtual event, running from my home office in 2020, to over 70 teams from all around the world racing and competing in our USP with the engineering challenges, it’s already developed further and faster than I hoped. I’m looking forward to an exciting season ahead and meeting the teams in person at our live final.” The series has grown by nearly 50% from 2025, reflecting its popularity and relevance among young engineers wanting to participate in and learn new skills in virtual dynamic vehicle set-up and race strategy. “From a stop-gap solution to save Formula Student during the Covid lockdown to a full-time series with a global stage, it’s inspiring to see how this contest is transforming gamers into engineers,” says James Montgomery, Formula Student Sim Racing event captain. The series will culminate with a final event, taking place alongside the main Formula Student event in July. Queen Mary University of London will be the defending champions after winning last year’s final, which took place at the Williams headquarters at Grove, Oxfordshire.
