FIA’s WMSC ratifies F1 regulatory changes for 2027 and 2028 F1’s governing body, the FIA, has provided an update after the latest round of talks over the future of the sport. On Tuesday, the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) held their mid-2026 meeting during the FIA Conference in Macau, with various updates to the 2026 Sporting, Technical and Financial Regulations being approved, and proposed changes for 2027 and 2028 being ratified. “The FIA continues to oversee the evolution of the 2026 regulations and work closely with all key stakeholders across the motorsport community,” said FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem of the latest discussions. “As with every major regulatory change, the process does not end when the cars first take to the track. Continuous dialogue and collaboration are essential to ensuring that the regulations meet the needs of the sport, its drivers, and its fans. “Together we are exploring the future direction of the championship and considering how the sport can balance innovation, sustainability, performance and fan appeal in the years ahead. “The discussions around future power unit concepts, including V8 engines powered by sustainable fuels, demonstrate the willingness of all parties to engage in shaping the next chapter of the sport.” During the meeting, the WMSC approved updates to the 2026 Sporting, Technical and Financial Regulations. In addition to various clarifications and minor corrections, the following changes have been included: - The declaration of a ‘Heat Hazard’ may now be split between the Sprint and Race. A Heat Hazard will still be declared, for Sprint, Race or both, 24 hours prior to the start of the competition. - In low grip conditions, when the track is wet and there is poor visibility, boost mode has been reintroduced but will be restricted to preventing power reduction without increasing output, while the

Mixed News is relaunching, and we’re picking up where the original team left off: covering immersive technology seriously, but without pretending every new headset, pair of smart glasses, or AI-powered wearable is about to change the world by lunchtime. The XR space seems to be in quantum state of being declared either completely dead or the next greatest thing in computing. Neither is true though, which is part of what makes the whole thing so fascinating. VR is still here, but progress is hampered by ever increasing costs of computing. AR is still scrabbling to find a practical use case. And smart glasses might finally be turning into something people would wear outside. Not to mention AI creeping into everything, sometimes usefully, and sometimes like a glitter bomb that explodes in your face and requires immediate medical attention. Looking for a Forza-ready, direct drive racing wheel for less? This $379 Moza bundle is astonishingly good value for Prime Day It's silly money for such a good sim racing setup. I was blown away by the R5 bundle's build quality and sensitive-yet-powerful feedback when I reviewed it back in 2024—and I'm still blown away when I use it for a sim racing session now. At this price? I wouldn't think twice, although I would definitely buy the $29 load-cell kit for the brake pedal while I was at it. Key specs: Direct drive | 5 nm | Included pedal set Sometimes you find a Prime Day deal that's so good, you perform a genuine double take. That was me this afternoon, when I spotted the Moza R5 bundle for $379 on the Moza storefront. I mean, seriously? It's our best budget direct drive racing wheel pick, sure. But it was pretty damn affordable to begin with, as direct drive bundles go. Now? It makes so much sense, I'm thinking of getting another one. I reviewed the Moza R5 bundle back in 2024, and I gave it a score of 90%. I've used it regularly since then, and not once has it let me down. In fact, if I were to score it today, I would give it... 90%. That's how much I like this particular wheel, wheelbase, and pedal combo. You'll want the extra Performance Kit, which provides a load-cell spring for the brake pedal for the very reasonable price of $29. Why Moza doesn't include it from the off, I have no idea. FIA confirms <b>sim racing</b> hill climb competition

- The FIA to run hill climb esports sim racing competition - Uses RaceRoom, with qualifying opening in August - In-person finale, hosted in Luxembourg The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile has confirmed a second major 2026 sim racing initiative in Macau at the World Motor Sport Council. Following the FIA Esports Global Rally Tour, an Assetto Corsa Rally-utilising competition currently underway, is the FIA Esports European Hill Climb Cup. It will culminate in a Luxembourg-based in-person finale this October (11th-13th), where the eight quickest drivers will compete against each other. Using RaceRoom Racing Experience, an online qualifying stage will begin on 20th August and close on 9th September 2026. The tournament will use the 134 Judd V8 vehicle, which features a high-revving engine originally designed for single-seater and prototype racing. Project Motor <b>Racing</b> receives VR update, but there's a catch…

Partial support for VR headsets, bugs expected, PC-only The one feature Project Motor Racing fans have been crying out for is one step closer, as VR support has been soft-launched in-game. However, VR in PMR has been released as an alpha feature, and it requires some legwork to get up and running, with players told to expect bugs and performance issues. The Traxion team recently sampled PMR’s work-in-progress VR mode at SimRacing Expo Charlotte (see video above), and were initially impressed with its performance, barring a few anomalies we’d expect in its nascent stages. Understandably, developer Straight4 Studios is being conservative with its early expectations for VR in PMR, and is actively seeking feedback from the community. To enable VR, players are advised to follow the instructions below, with known issues and workarounds also listed. For more information, players are encouraged to join the sim’s Discord channel. PMR has also just released its new GT Icons DLC pack, adding new cars and one new track to the game. This marks legendary sim-racing physics guru Aristotelis Vasilakos‘s first vehicle-handling input in the game, with hopes high that he can transform the beleaguered title’s fortunes.
