iRacing Development Update: May 2026 May 28th, 2026 by Greg Hill Hello iRacing, With just a couple of weeks left to go, the final pieces for our Season 3 release are rounding into form. This is always my favorite part of our quarterly build cycle—where months and sometimes years of hard work, steady development, and pure grit have finally transformed into working code, polygons, and pixels, all making their way across our testing environments, into the hands of our testers, and toward that release day green flag. While we work our way through this final tech and scrutineering phase, we’re far enough along to give you a quick preview of what to expect when the download button goes live in early June. Before we dive into the details, just a quick shout-out to everyone who participated in this year’s epic Nurburgring 24H, both in the real world and sim world. What a grueling yet rewarding event this is, and maintaining focus and competitive fire for such a long span is truly a feat. The real event at the Green Hell was a complete sellout and hit all-time attendance records, and here in our virtual world, that level of excitement was matched every bit of the way. The iRacing Nurburgring 24H saw participation increase by a massive 47% over last year, with over 7 million total miles driven! We have seen similar levels of engagement throughout 2026, and it’s really special for us to experience motorsport at this level with you on this amazing shared racing platform. Next up, prepare for a change of pace with a four-hour throwdown in Touring cars with the 4 Hours of Thruxton. The electrifying 2026 season of the F1 Sim Racing World Championship is nearing its conclusion, with the drivers facing their final Qualifying session in Round 12, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. After mastering the challenges of Mexico and Brazil, the competitors must now set their sights on achieving the best grid position possible at the Yas Marina Circuit, which hosts the season finale. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's Multiplayer is Full of Lessons Learned from Modern Warfare II

Trends may come and go, but multiplayer has, and always will be, Call of Duty's bread and butter. While Treyarch and Sledgehammer have remembered this during the Warzone era, it's hard to shake the feeling that Infinity Ward hasn't. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 started off decently enough before post-launch support shifted heavily towards Call of Duty: Warzone, which blew up in popularity. This led to the divisive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, whose multiplayer suite at launch felt tampered by Warzone. The glacial movement, emphasis on camping over engagement, focus on realism over playability and weak map pool all felt lifted from Warzone. Add on top of that the horrendous Hulu UI, strict matchmaking, terrible changes to how Perks function, and a confusing progression system and you have a recipe for disaster. It wasn't till the next year that Sledgehammer Games was able to fix all these issues with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. Going into their next title, Infinity Ward needed to learn from its past to deliver a focused multiplayer experience and win back players. They just might. We visited Infinity Ward to see and get hands-on with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's multiplayer. While we only got to play a slice, and there's still a flashing warning sign, what we played left us cautiously optimistic about what's in store for multiplayer fans. F1 simulators have been marked as a useful tool in a modern drivers' kit, with the younger generation of drivers such as Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Ollie Bearman and more, all growing up with its assistance. For older drivers such as Lewis Hamilton, however, the simulator isn't as preferable, with his distaste for the simulator floated as a reason for his potential downturn in performance last year. At the Canadian Grand Prix last weekend, Hamilton revealed his old-school approach with the simulator and was asked why he has moved away from using it. Far from ignoring it last year, Hamilton also confirmed how much he was actually using the technology, to what he believes was a detriment. He told the media: "With simulations, I feel that the goalposts are always moving. “Last year I used it every week and more often than not, I felt that you do all the work on the sim and you find a set-up that you’re comfortable with, you get to the track and everything’s opposite so you’re undoing the things you’ve learned. "Some of the ways you approach the corners, you have to shift and adjust. The set-up that you felt was good on the simulator is not the same as the track sometimes. Sometimes it is, so it’s kind of hit and miss. “I just decided for this one, I was going to sit it out and focus more on the data.

Almost none of us will ever buy this Fanatec racing wheel, but its crossover between gaming and the real world is impressive on an unmatched scale If you're the sort of person who owns a BMW GT car you can practice on a sim with the same wheel you hit the track with. This past weekend I was lucky enough as a lover of all things racing to check out the inaugural U.S. edition of the Sim Racing Expo in Charlotte, North Carolina. Among the raft of incredible hardware, something unique caught my eye. Fanatec, nowadays owned by Corsair, has been a huge player in the sim racing space for many years. But the company also has a unique crossover product that's not just built for your many hours in iRacing. You can use it on a real-life racing car, too. The Fanatec Podium BMW M4 GT3 racing wheel is not a replica. It was developed with BMW and is the actual wheel used on the 2022 spec BMW M4 GT3 race car. Only you can pop it out of the vehicle and use it for virtual racing, too. It's absolutely wild. I'm obviously aware that almost nobody who reads this will be in the market for this wheel. Not unless they have a ton of cash to burn on the most realistic setup they can get, or they're lucky enough to have access to a BMW M4 GT3 car. But if you do want one, you can grab your own for $1,599.99 from Fanatec's store. But its interest to me is not just that it's a cool product or a high-end racing wheel.
