When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Sim racing may finally have broken its glass ceiling; or rather, the plasterboard ceiling of the basements that used to house every car nerd's Logitech wheel-and-pedals setup. If the rest of the family once found the hobby slightly embarrassing, those days appear to be ending. The proof: thousands of car enthusiasts, motorsports fanatics, and sim techies of all ages and backgrounds gathered in Charlotte, NC this past weekend for the first-ever US-based SimRacing Expo. The expo—inaugurated at the infamous Nürburgring racetrack in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, in 2014—has traced the meteoric rise of the sim racing industry. The 2026 SimRacing Expo hosted dozens of vendors from the hardware and software sides of the hobby: Fanatec, Thrustmaster, iRacing, NASCAR, Red Bull. Even the auto racing equipment manufacturer Sabelt showed up in full force. While industry leaders spoke on the ever-growing market and unstoppable advance of haptic-feedback technology, kids drove their favorite cars on sim setups, the fanciest of which cost more than a down payment on a house. Simulation racing takes motorsports video games ranging from the arcadey Forza Horizon to the hyperrealistic iRacing and applies the physical hardware of cars—a steering wheel, a pedal box, sometimes a manual shifter, and occasionally, tens of thousands of dollars worth of "force feedback" technology with motors built into actual racecar seats to provide games with an ever-improving facsimile of the experience of driving a car in the real world. You can even buy a rig used by F1 drivers for $12 million, if you're the kind of person who wants to spend more on a gaming setup than on an actual Enzo Ferrari. Since the mid 2010s, sim racing has grown into a global phenomenon from a niche,

SimRacing Expo 2026 comes to Charlotte: A landmark moment for sim racing in America Published 1:18 pm Tuesday, May 26, 2026 | Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... | By Brandon Hyde Star Correspondent The 2026 SimRacing Expo in Charlotte marked one of the biggest milestones in the history of virtual motorsport. For the first time since the event began at Germany’s Nürburgring in 2014, the world’s premier sim racing exhibition crossed the Atlantic and landed in the United States. Hosted May 22-24 at the Charlotte Convention Center, the event transformed the heart of NASCAR country into the global capital of sim racing for an entire weekend. As an avid sim racer myself, I was excited to see all that it had to offer. What made the 2026 edition so important was not simply the size of the event, but what it represented for the future of the hobby and industry. Sim racing has exploded in popularity over the last decade thanks to platforms like iRacing, the rise of esports, affordable direct-drive hardware and increasing crossover with real-world motorsports. Bringing the expo to the United States acknowledged that North America is now one of the fastest-growing sim racing markets in the world. Why Charlotte was the perfect host Few cities could have been better suited for the inaugural American edition than Charlotte. The city is deeply tied to motorsports culture, serving as home to numerous NASCAR organizations and the nearby Charlotte Motor Speedway. The expo also coincided with Memorial Day weekend, what many consider the greatest race weekend of the year, creating a fusion between real-world racing and virtual competition that perfectly captured the spirit of modern motorsport. The venue itself connected sim racers with authentic racing culture. The convention center sits adjacent to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, reinforcing
TravClan has been appointed as the Preferred Sales Agent (PSA) for StarDream Cruises in India. The partnership aims to strengthen and modernise cruise distribution across the Indian travel trade ecosystem by making cruise products more accessible, scalable, and easier to sell for travel agents across the country. Cruise tourism in India continues to remain a relatively underpenetrated category despite growing interest among travellers seeking curated and experience-led holidays. At the same time, cruise distribution has traditionally remained highly relationship-driven and operationally intensive, often concentrated among a limited set of specialised sellers in metro markets. For many small and mid-sized travel agents, cruise bookings have historically involved fragmented access, operational complexity, and limited product visibility compared to mainstream travel categories. Through this partnership, TravClan aims to leverage its technology-led distribution network to simplify cruise discovery, booking, and support for travel agents across India — including emerging travel businesses in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The collaboration is expected to help broaden cruise accessibility beyond traditional distribution channels while enabling more travel agents to confidently participate in the category. Speaking about the partnership, Chirag Agrawal, Co-founder of TravClan, said: “One of the biggest gaps in the cruise industry today is distribution accessibility. Cruise inventory and selling expertise have traditionally remained concentrated within a relatively small ecosystem, which limits wider adoption across the travel trade.” “At TravClan, we believe technology can play a meaningful role in simplifying cruise discovery, booking, and support for travel agents across the country — not just in metros, but also for emerging travel businesses in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets.” “Our partnership with StarDream Cruises is an important step towards making cruise selling more scalable and accessible for the broader travel agent community. We believe the category holds strong long-term potential as Indian travellers increasingly explore
